Re: The Death of the camera industry...

Its makes sense to stay with a system you have made big investments in such as your lens collection, As for what camera is better than another, who knows, its an area I don't usually make comment on, probably because I wouldn't know, however, with my move to micro 4/3 it was relatively inexpensive a...

Re: The Death of the camera industry...

The D610 is a great camera and for a FF camera its not to big, I borrowed one for the day off a club member many years ago and it was great to use, but there were many features on it I would not use or have the need for. Picture quality was superb, but bare in mind to do a FF sensor justice you need...

Re: A77II ramblings and thoughts

Many a high image quality camera can get left behind and forgotten in the pixel race, often later cameras in some instances have inferior IQ compared to their earlier counterpats, in the race to make cameras all singing and dancing in the video department, Still image performance becomes secondary

Re: Future of A mount

Its pretty obvious that Sony have been slowly Weening A mount users off A mount in the hopes they will convert to E mount, now that all the other major manufacturers have slowly adopted a mirrorless format and more compact ILC cameras, it makes sense for Sony to be up there with them in competition....

Re: A99 ramblings and thoughts...

Mike, have a look at 'Camera Jungle' its a Jessops used site, but mail order only, I built my Canon system from this site, they are excellent, no doggie-doo, warranty and often several lenses/bodies of the same type at different levels of condition and priced accordingly, they tell it how it is, wit...

You have to draw a line somewhere, I recently resurrected my old Rega Planar 3 deck and Creek amp, all ancient kit now and gone back to vinyl. love it. changing the subject, are Ffordes photographic any where near you, I have looked at their used list several times but find them expensive

Re: A99 ramblings and thoughts...

Interesting topic re the A99 and later versions, As mentioned, the more the pixels the more the knock on effect with other bits in your system. I moved away from A mount to Micro 4/3, but that was for other reasons. Having played with HI FI for decades I came to the conclusion the higher up the syst...

Re: Future of A mount

Interesting video, I suspect though that these Nikon 'Z' & Canon 'RF' lenses are not going to be cheap, and it will also be interesting to see if the 3rd party lens manufactures get interested. Most Panasonic lenses have built in ILS which is activated when attached to a Panasonic body, When Oly...

Re: Future of A mount

Micro 4/3 took some time to get established when the E 4/3 system was discontinued, Photographers were wary of the new format, but eventually the size/weight advantage won many over to the system. Yes, excellent sensors, Olympus now use Sony Sensors, but not sure if Panasonic still use their own, as...

Re: Future of A mount

They all trashed the SLT system unjustifiably in my opinion because they found the SLT robbed the sensor of some light. Can't say I saw this in real life pictures, DPReviews even got blamed amongst other review sites for trashing the Olympus 4/3 cameras system to the point Olympus lost a lot of sale...

Re: Future of A mount

Sony and other brands are putting more and more features in their cameras for the Viog, especially Sony's E mounts, its been said at the expense of the stills photographers. A mount in my book is a great APS-C format and stills camera, with a vast lens range from Sony/Minolta and the 3rd party manuf...

Re: Future of A mount

I just don't get Sony, they are more prolific than any other, Mk 1 Mk 2 Mk 3 Mk 4 Mk 5 Mk 6, Is there a Mk 7 and 8 on the horizon, probably, when is it going to stop, never I suspect, but with those prices they are chasing an ever shrinking market but then they all are.
