Re: Mirrorless rumours

according to sonyalpharumours.com, the a99 has exceeded the sales forecast of Sony itself. apparently not everyone think them to expensive.

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report

this afternoon, I have been doing that, wondering what I would if I could start again. and perhaps I am not a typical user, but I would buy a99.again. the 36Mp of the d800 are tempting, but I dot like the crippled live view solution. and the dynamic range of Canon is simply too limmiting.

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report

To try to go head to head with that is insane and ill advised. Indeed, going head to head with CaNikon has little use. And that is likely a key motivator for the whole SLT type camera (and the NEX range), to offer something different. and this is only a first step, the next step is almost certainly...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report

Well, it all depends of what you want to do with it. For me it replaces my a900. I think it to be better in every way. I do not care much for an OVF. And that there is no difference in the iso 100-400 range is not what I find. Base iso for the a900 is at best 160. for the a99 this is more like 80. T...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report

The review mentions the lack of processing power of the a99 compared to the a900, which would be due to the use of only a single Bionz processor. If I recall correctly, the dual bionz in the a900 was there to allow for the 5 frames/second. The a850 uses only one processor and has a reduced frame rat...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report

The thing I mostly read is disappointment. Hardly a good base for an objective review. Four years ago it was the Nikon that was more expensive, and by a little more then what we are talking about now. I would think that people that really have a need for a certain camera do not care to much about th...

Re: Is a77 high ISO really as bad as is made out?

'In my view the sensor to watch for in the future is Fuji and there is one other camera manufacturer that has an interest in it as well.' The Fuji sensor is the same 16Mp Sony sensor. They use there own, different pattern, CFA's on it. It seems to improve high iso, but when you want sharp results, i...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report

The new reviewers seem content to brown nose products. I'm sure some A99 users will be happy that a review justifies their purchase choice. But when every FF camera gets "Gold" it's rather pointless IMO. Did you ever even handle the camera? I am not going to say DPR reviews are perfect an...

Re: Is a77 high ISO really as bad as is made out?

I know this is dangerous ground, but still. Attached are two files. 1891 is a d7k file, witch was exposed with 1/640 at f9. 2820 is an a77 file that is exposed with 1/500e and f8. so the a77 received 2/3 EV more light. it was set at iso 1600 and the d7k was set at iso3200. to me it seems that the a7...

Re: A99 shutter cycle - can owners pleae help me with a test

about the a99 just being an a77 with a better sensor: if you look at it that way, the d600 is just a d7000 with a better sensor. it seems that Sony took a higher spec starting point, which can only be a good thing. And wow, what a sensor.

Re: A99 shutter cycle - can owners pleae help me with a test

I own the a99 now for about 4 weeks, and am surprised by the unenthusiastic reactions to the a99. I own an a900 and a nex-7 to compare. For me the a99 is a big step up from the a900. But first a bit about how I use the camera; I am mostly a landscape type of photographer. It can be cityscapes and se...
