Here's an Emerald. I deliberately didn't try to get the wings in focus because I wanted to major on the water mites that are infesting its thorax (the orange blobs). You get an impression of the typical Emerald wing position though.

A-Apprentice, Sorry to butt in. Your damsel is not an Emerald. As far as I can make out it's an Azure (but the photo isn't conclusive). You can just about see a black marking on the thorax that's known as the Coenagrion Spur and is a pointer to one of the Coenagrion species. The Azure is Coenagrion ...

Hi Sury,

I can see what you have done and agree that there's an improvement. I can also see (obviously) that your second file is in mono. Am I missing something because Mike's original two files look identical to me.

Those are excellent (and very interesting) pictures. Where did you get the optical fibres please? What sort of exposure can you get using your set up? I'm really very surprised that a relatively few fibres allow what's obviously an acceptable exposure. I would have guessed that you would be struggli...
