Re: Flowers 2019 - Your Flower and Garden Shots

Hi ya’ll! Love these! This lotus was about 8ft away in a deep pond. I used the 500mm mirror reflex (handheld) to get in close. The Sun had just dropped below the horizon and daylight had diminished significantly. I increased the ISO, but there still wasn’t enough light for such a slow lens and there...

Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer

I like this topic. :) Henry, what's the story behind your last photo??? :D Sig Shooting in rooms with walls covered with mirrors is always a challenge. This is the “I thought that I hid rather well, but forgot that mirrors will reflect the reflections of other mirrors” shot. A99, 24-70 ZA, F 2.8, 1/...

This is a statue of the early explorers Lewis and Clark along with their dog. The statue stands 23 feet high. As you can see, only the bust of Lewis is visible. Re: High Waters (not talking about pants)

Thanks for the comments about the photos! :) And learned something new. High Water Pants. :D As a fast growing teenager, it seemed that my pants were always a little short, so I was often teased for wearing “high waters”. :) I’m not sure how wide spread the term is used, but I figure that people can...

High Waters (not talking about pants)

Hi All, Just a few shots of the swollen Mississippi at the St. Louis riverfront. The river is high but the Arch and its underground museum are above the flood level. However, since the water table is really high, whenever it rains hard the ground water level rises and starts to seep into the Arch tr...

Re: A99-2

Barry, I agree. That's a good combination. Thanks Sury. I'm just a bit of a dance geek. :) I forget that a lot of the routine stuff that dancers have to do is not always apparent to other people. That's why I try to explain some of this stuff. Sometimes people find it interesting, and it can help pu...

Barry, I can't argue with your critique on any of these. #10... I'm pretty sure that's a Slim Jim in a lipstick case. The photo's from a project entitled "Yuck" ??? I'm guessing that the photographer doesn't like Slim Jims? Me... I love 'em! Can't get enough of that beef, pork, mechanicall...

Re: A99-2

Hi Valery & all, Loving the shots! :) I hope you don't mind if I add some information about the dance gear. Any items that are worn over the feet and shoes in order to keep the shoes clean (it is a cardinal sin to track dust and dirt onto stage), as well as keeping the feet warm, are generally r...

Re: Romeo & Juliet

Thanks everyone! And thanks, David, for checking out the St. Louis Ballet videos and sharing the link. The few of us older dancers that are still around are very proud of the younger dancers. Over the years, the company has grown a lot, and continues to grow more than any of us could have ever imagi...

Dancing Strawhatz - Kimono

A couple of member photo posts reminded me of this video from a few years ago. It's one of my favorites. :D This would have been a lot of fun to be in, or to shoot. If you haven't seen the video before, it's a mix of an ancient culture "look" with new dance and music. I don't normally have...
