Re: Ice (open thread)

Valery,
I like all of the drama in your shot. The sharp chunks of ice, the solidness of the train trestle, and a very ominous looking sky. :)

Re: Ice (open thread)

These circular ice accumulations or ice crystals are indeed a very interesting phenomenon. Never saw something similar in real life myself. Nicely observed. Looks very, very chilly... When I went to the river, I expected to see chunks of ice as in Valery's photo. I was surprised to see the ice circ...

Ice (open thread)

This winter, we haven't had much snow in the Lou (St. Louis :) ) but we have had weeks-long periods of below freezing temperatures, so we've got lots of ice. Here are just a few shots. Please feel free to post your own photos of ice. :) Sig Ice accumulation on Mississippi river at the "Chain of...

Cool shots!

Tony, I love that bird with the spikey feathers on its head.

Valery, that dog almost looks like a stuffed toy animal. :)

Re: Helping Friends with Short Art Films

Most of my family is to the left of the main mausoleum in the section with the large red column, close to the road. Grandma, Grandpa, uncles and aunts. Most died in February and it was a family joke that if we lived thru Feb we were going to make it another year. My son is buried to the left of the...

Re: Helping Friends with Short Art Films

Looking at the shot of the mausoleum on the hill and the crypt in the foreground, this looks a lot like Valhalla, where my family is buried. Were you filming in my back yard? Dusty Wow... very observant! Yes, we were at the Valhalla cemetery on St. Charles Rock Road. We were there for 3 nights. We ...

Re: Show us PORTRAITS

Good evening folks. Recently, I find myself trying to crop these images to find something more personal. The ice block and the drummer are prime examples where one can find an image within the image. Crop the ice line at the top, and the drum stick and I bet you will see something different and wor...

Yes, donuts! I often use the 500mm Mirror Reflex at outdoor festivals so that I can get in close without being intrusive. But that also means that I can expect to get those donuts. Some people like them, others don't. But I don't mind them as long as they work. :) A99, 500 Mirror Reflex, F8, 1/800, ...

Love the shots! Love that girl's blue and white headpiece,... and everyone looks like they're having a lot of fun. :D

I also have an appreciation for the AF system for those unexpected shots. :)
