Re: Chromatic aberations with SAL1680

I returned the lens because I was not happy with the extent of chromatic aberrations, particularly at 16mm, but also at other focal lengths. That was the main reason. I also noted that at 80mm the image shifted slightly going from zooming in to zooming out. This was slightly annoying but for that al...

Chromatic aberations with SAL1680

Hello, Sony have rebuilt my SAL1680 Zeiss lens and replaced several mechanical parts. It still has more chromatic aberrations than I would like and a stock agency has rejected some of the images because of this. I now correct them in Photoshop Elements 5. The problems occurs significantly at other s...

Re: Problems with images A700 + sal1680

David, Thanks for the advice regarding the scanner . I was wondering if a slide copier might do the job? Regarding sharpening images again. I have noticed it stated in a review that the EOS 40D applies more sharpening than the A700 though images can look very similar if more in camera sharpening is ...

Re: Problems with images A700 + sal1680

Thanks for your help folks. As I said I don't know much about digital as all my experience has been with slide and film with a Minolta 7000i Dynax and Sigma 28-70, 70-210 zooms, where with the technology available to me, I didn't blow images up to a huge size and pore over them. That is apart from u...

Re: Problems with images A700 + sal1680

Thanks for your replies. Johnday 1. I have looked at your image and it is a better for what you have done. I don't have Photoshop although I have Elements 5 and I have increased the contrast slightly and applied some sharpening and it looks better so I'll resubmit that. The agency said that there we...

Problems with images A700 + sal1680

I am having problem with some images I have taken with the Sony A700 using the 16 - 80mm Sony lens which I bought in Nov. I recently joined a stock agency and had the 2 images below rejected, so I am wondering if there is something wrong with either the way I took them or something else. Any advice ...

Re: A700 developed serious fault

Answering my own question after some help, it appears that the shutter release button was not releasing fully at times but remaining 1/2 way down. This condition exactly mimics the fault. Looking at the button I could see that it was sticking in this way at times. This could be caused by a build up ...

A700 developed serious fault

My A700 has recently developed a serious fault causing it to not respond to pressing menu, playback, ISO, WB, exp compensation and several other buttons although it will shoot once the fault manifests itself and autofocus is enabled at that time. I have firmware v3 and the fault was also present on ...

Re: Hello from near Exeter

Carlj I am unable to upload any images to my Photobucket account. I see others have had this problem. As they say in Devon, "I'll get there directly". PS I have now managed by attaching an image to an email. Here it is hopefully. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh79/moorefam1/DSC00291_r...

Re: Hello from near Exeter

Carlj, I have tried using "photobucket" to upload some images too, prior to inserting a few onto this site, but it won't upload a single byte even though I have resized an image. It could be finger trouble as I haven't uploaded any images or anything else to anywhere before. Puzzled - Moor...

Re: Hello from near Exeter

Carl Thanks for your interest. I have done some searching already but a TC 1.4* M42 mount is a rare beast. I could get a TC 1.4* Sony fit and then it hopefully work with my Tamron as well. What I would also like to know is how to post a few images? I can't work that out at all at the moment?? regard...

Hello from near Exeter

Hello folks, I have recently bought an Sony Alpha A700 after spending the Autumn wearing myself out evaluating various cameras and lenses. I have ended up with Sony 16:80mm and Tamron 70:300mm lenses and I am pleased with both. This my first serious forage into digital photography. I have had a Mino...
