Re: Megapixel war

What a dumb blog post! So we need 8x10 large format for an 8 x 10-inch print, to meet his standards! Wakey wakey! We don't look at prints with a microscope. I am so glad that some folks can worry about "what matters" and that is the final image. My best photos, are my lowest res, softest ...

Who cares!

Do we need all this market speculation and brand comparison nonsense. I have not looked at the forum recently but when I do I see load of rubbish from a small number of children with new toys. I hope to be informed on this site not bored.

Re: FDAM1A< Magnifier

I use the Pentax eyepiece maginifier on my A350. Its a great improvement. It fits as if it wer made for the camera. I also sometimes use a Seagull right angle finder. Get one of the 1.2-2.5 versions.

Re: A300 Sleep mode question

I turned the eye-start off on my A350. The camera wakes from sleep mode so fast I don't think it is needed. If you leave it on just hanging the camera around your neck will trigger the eye- start and cause the lens to hunt for focus. The A350 and I suppose the A300 are a bit power hungry when the Li...

Re: Focus accuracy on A700 with 50mm f1.4 and 100mm Macro

The dphoto expert comments on live view only apply cameras where the Live view image is taken directly from the main sensor. The Sony system is only really a view of the viewfinder image so focus errors will creep in. This was apparent on my E-330 which had both systems, manual focusing using live v...

Re: Minolta 100-300xi

My only criticism of the lens is if it looses focus at the long end in poor light it will zoom all the way out and back again. By this time the creature has gone. I use Af to set the rough distance and then turn it off. AF+MF would be good for this lens or a focus limiter.

Maybe my Sigma 70-300 APO DG was not such a bad buy, if it keeps going. :D

They have to be on both sides so that if the left one is obscured you will see the right. Means the " I didn't see the sign officer" carries no weight. :D

Re: Help! Why are some shots soft, some sharp?

You say its a cheap tripod. Cheap tripods area as good as no tripod at the speeds you are using. all they do is carry the weight of the camera. If the tripod is not heavy enough and stable enough to prevent the vibration you will still get camera shake.

Send it to Sony. Download a repair form. There is a freepost label on the form. the repair centre is in Wales.

Re: CF cards for A700.

I use 2X 4gb Sandisk Extreme 3 (30mb/s) and a couple of 2gb Integral iPro (100X) This refelcts the increasing file size in my cameras over the last 2 or 3 years. My A350 now puts 185 RAW files on a 4gb card so its a lot of images for a day. :D

As a Worcestershire man now living in the Yorkshire Dales I can sympathise. Worcestershire is a beautiful place I lived just north of Worcester. The Northern Hills have a drama not found in the Three Counties. Welcome!

Re: Hi from Cranbrook, BC, Canada

Welcome. As an A350 owner I am doing my best to reduce the supply of Minolta lenses in Canada. I have just bought 2 Minolta AF from Canada. Seems to be a lot of Sony/Minolta interest there. :D
