Re: a200 underexposure manual setting

thanks javelin, I'm thinking I may get a better clue if I use the AP setting which establishes the shutter speed. I've had success with AP f4 shooting faces not scenery. Sure appreciate your response. So much to learn - so little time :) BTW There's some Muskoka colour shots at that URL if you're in...

Re: a200 underexposure manual setting

Hi there, I went out yesterday and shot "Our Smoke Tree" using manual settings. The pic is available at http://flickr.com/photos/10585131@N07/ The EXIF is there too under "more properties." I was amazed at the settings I came up with. However, the colour is "as is" and ...

Re: a200 underexposure manual setting

Gentlemen, Thank you all for excellent responses to my situation. :D You may chuckle at this - I checked my source for the sunny 16 info and discovered that the author lived in Hawaii  Anyway, back to the drawing board for this geezer armed with all of the great advice from y'all. Thanks again,...

a200 underexposure manual setting

I'm confused. It's a bright sunny day so as a relative newbie using manual settings, I set "sunny 16" to start. (f16 S 1/100 ISO 100) I shoot and the pic is totally underexposed. I try again and note the exposure is flashing like mad at -2. I check the manual, to see how to adjust that to ...

Re: Sony a200 ARW images to RAW in Elements 6 - Help!

Dr. Harout, Thank you so much!!! :D So, converting from Sony ARW to TIFF for Elements 6 is great for editing! I sort of knew about the JPEG deterioration factor and that's why I would convert from Sony fine JPEG to Photoshop PSD. I think you're saying that for best results, shoot Sony ARW, convert t...

Sony a200 ARW images to RAW in Elements 6 - Help!

I shot my first raw images today with my a200. found out arw is not recognized by Elements 6. So, I loaded up the Sony software Image Data Converter SR 2.0 and it sent the arw image to Elements 6 as a tiff not Photoshop raw. I'm really new at this and really confused. :? Is tiff an OK editing image ...

Re: next a200 lens

Andy, Nice to see a fellow Canadian on stream and I really appreciate your comments. You'll know that tax season is over in Canada and I was finally able to get to my store, Henry's , and try the Sony and the "standard' Sigma for real. :D I chose the standard Sigma for a couple of reasons. The ...

Re: Alpha 200

David, I've just read the "saga" of lens choice re Sony, Sigma and Tamron. I'm going through the same choice now looking to add a 75-300 to the a200 i purchased in March of this year that has the 18-70 kit lens included. Over here in Canada, the Tamron is at least $50 less than the Sony. I...

1st & 2nd Impressions -& Sony Alpha 200

I'm a 1st time dslr user. I brought the a200 home, Fri Mar 14/08 at 9:30 PM, removed it from its package prison assembled it and added strap, lens and Lexar 2G card to it. I put the battery in the charger, the a200 in its new case and went to bed. 5:00 am - up and at it! Put the battery in and took ...
