Alpha 700 charging
Does anyone know, for certain, whether or not it is safe to charge the A700 via a voltage inverter run from the car battery? I've recently come back from a camping trip and charging the batteries was a problem on some camp sites; charging from my car would therefor be an advantage, but not if it fri...

Samyang lenses for A700
Has anyone used either the 500 mm or the 800 mm Samyang lenses on their Alpha? If so, what were the results like? I'd love to buy Sony's 500 mm mirror lens, but don't have that kind of money! Are Samyang lenses worth buying?

Re: Super Steady Shot
What about when using a macro lens at 1:1? SSS on or off? A while back taking photo's of fungi in the woods with my A700 tripod mounted (benbo) I tried with sss on and off; also using remote release (infa red), 10 sec selftimer and 2 sec. In all cases I was using very slow shutter speeds at f8 ~ f16...

Macro twin flash
Can anyone offer me guidence on using Sony's twin flash. Have had some good results with this unit, but never seem to get consistant results. I liked my old AF1200 much better; it alwys gave predictable results. Sony's twin flash requirs that the flashes are angled correctly for the mag ratio; I jus...

Re: Can HVL-F58AM work with the Maxxum 3600HS via wireless?
If I'm reading this post right do I take it that using the A700 with either the pop up flash or F58AM as controller they will fire the old 54HS? And if so, the exposure will be correct? IE the 54HS will not just be firing at full power?

Re: SONY a700 and a900 for the phillipines
Hopefully before may or after november, but not during the rainy season. I'm awaiting some brochures with regard to weather, reserves and the safest places to be. :) Everywhere in the Philippines is safe; except maybe the south. I've my second home there and go over as often as I can. I've never fe...

Re: Photo storage in the field.
I'm a little confused guys. I'm trying to work out what size portable storage device to take with me on a three week trip to China (for the total eclipse and touring). I'm using an A700 and shooting in Raw. I emailed a company about a 200 Gb device, but they say that on average I should be able to g...

Photo storage in the field.
I'm going to China in July and it has dawned on me that there there is no way that I can afford to buy as many memory cards as I think I'll need. I'm obviously going to need some form of portable digital storage device that I can download my images too. I don't fancy the idea of a laptop and I don't...

Re: Just got my copies of the Photoworld ...
Thank you David for the information regarding the 56 flash; it was extremely useful. I had no idea that the 56 was an old model and at the time of ordering had believed it to be the current flash. I got in contact straight away with the LCE and they have agreed (as I'd already paid in full) to let m...

Re: Just got my copies of the Photoworld ...
The flash I'm waiting for (ordered and paid for from the London Camera Exchange) is the Sony wireless flash HVL-F56AM. I ordered it back in May from LCE who have, to this date, no luck in receiving it from Sony, in spite of daily deliveries from them. :( I've spoken to David Jenner (I think) and he ...

Re: Just got my copies of the Photoworld ...
Thanks for setting my mind at rest, David. Regarding the contact at Sony: Can I email Bernard via the Photostore even if I'm asking about a product I'm purchasing from another store (LCE)? I've had a flash on order now for several weeks and Sony still have not supplied it to LCE so that they can sen...

renewal
Hi David,
Isn't subscription automatically renewed? I hope I've not let mine lapse? I would be most upset, because I really would like to continue receiving Photoworld.
Here's my postcode, if your able to check: SL3 8JJ.
