Re: Remote control with OS X 10.6 ?
Yes, I will try to change from A to S (or M). Aperture sees the camera (A700), but I can't "take" a picture from the computer – AND the camera is locked with the message "Setting up PC connection..." (or something). Sony Remote works "one-way" as you describe it – but i...

Remote control with OS X 10.6 ?
How do you do tethered shooting under Mac OS X 10.6 now when Sony Remote Camera control does not work as before? I'm using Aperture, which have built-in tethered support for some cameras – not Sony. So far I can still get the images to the computer using Remote Camera Control. But the settings can n...

Re: raw converters
If you are on a Mac, Raw Developer is a nice one. In my opinion it is better then Aperture (a tiny bit). But Aperture have a lot of other nice features so I'm using that.

Re: Firmware v04 for Sony Alpha 700
Hello
This is good news And seems very popular because yesterday evening it was impossible (for me) to download the Mac-version. And now it is gone
But I found the Windows version at Dyxum. Can it be used? Just put the exe-file on a card and follow David's instructions?
Regards, Magnus

Re: EXIF data and Aperture 2
You are right Olaf. I compared the Exif data in Aperture, Preview and Sony IDC. Aperture have two fields for this: "Aperture" and "Max aperture value". The same fields in Preview and Sony IDC is: "F number" and "Max aperture". Both Preview and IDC reports &quo...

Re: EXIF data and Aperture 2
For my lenses (two Sigmas and one Sony) the aperture seems to be right (except for f2.8 which became f3.0). But using Dynax 7D the lens model is also reported (but not quit right): Minolta AF 28-80 (D) – it is actually a Sigma 24-70.
Using A700 that field is empty.

Re: General Tips
Well Debra,
I'm not shooting people very much (I like cars ), so my only tips is that setting the camera to center-weight metering when shooting people up close.
Not very much - but the only thing I could come up with

Re: Which 70200 2.8
Debra, it must be the second generation of "my" lens. I don't have the macro setting, otherwise it seems to be the same. I also checked a swedish web shop (USD 670 !) and they say that the difference between old and new version is the macro and the new one is slightly smaller and lighter. ...

Re: Which 70200 2.8
Debra, I have used the Sigma 24-70 /2.8 EX DG for some years now. On both a Dynax 7D and A700. And I really like it and find it to be very good. It is quit big and heavy and it's biggest flaw is the narrow zoom ring which is placed very closed to the camera body. But you get used to that ;) This is ...

EXIF data and Aperture 2
Hello Aperture 2 is supposed to support lens model metadata. Well, for my images taken with Dynax 7D it is supported (almost), but with my A700 the Exif field is just empty. Is this "normal" or is it just my camera / lenses / aperture? All my images are converted with the v2 converter. Reg...

Re: Sigma 10-20 or Sony 11-18 or ... ?
Thanks for all that info David. :) I think I will go for the Sigma 12-20 (it will look good in the bag among my other Sigma lenses :) ) And one day I will surly have a full-frame body – and at least one lens to start with). I guess the price for the up-coming Sony will be on par with the nkn D700… R...

Re: Sigma 10-20 or Sony 11-18 or ... ?
Hello
I'm in the same boat as PeterMac. So the Sony is a better choice then the Sigma… How about the Sigma 12-24 or Tamron 11-18 ? Any experience?

Re: Which is best ARW/RAW converter for Alpha 100?
Hello gborce I compared many raw converter for my A700. I always used Aperture for the Dynax 7D but was not completely happy with it's conversion of A700. So I tried (on a ISO 640 image) Raw Developer, Raw Photo Processor, SilkyPix, Bibble and Aperture. For me the very best was Raw Photo Processor w...
