Re: Organic Seonsors Galore
I picked up a Fuji X-E1 kit last week, there was a local promotion including a free EF-X20 flash and 32GB SD card which also coincided with a bit of a price drop. I couldn't resist. It's a lovely piece of kit. The OOC jpegs are about as close to my old KM 5D as I've seen from another camera. ...

Re: Nex-6 ramblings
They don't believe me on DPR. Then you're probably right! I'm afraid not. I tried it again, and it does pre-focus. It's a real lazy focus, though. I doubt that that's the huge power -waster That's a shame, it would be nice to at least have the option to turn it off - not that it bugs me as m...

Re: Mirrorless rumours
Wish I could do this now with my Sigma 70-200/2.8 APO HSM II. Then I wouldn't have to spend $150 to send it to Oz for a firmware upgrade to make it work on SLT cameras, just so I can sell it!bfitzgerald wrote:Maybe this "is" the future with firmware updates and user customisation.

Re: Nex-6 ramblings
That also means that the A-mode should not be used if you want some PDAF benefit to show at all. The problem is that the Nex sys tries to focus at the prescribed aperture as long as there is enough light. You should use the P-mode with shift in the stead of A-mode. In that mode the body is complete...

Have to agree, it's over the top even at ISO200.

Re: New NEX-7 successor in two months?
What is even worse (for Sony) I am so happy with my RX-100. There comes a time where what you have is good enough for what you want to do. A good friend of mine asked me recently for a camera recommendation, with no hesitation I suggested the RX-100. She's absolutely in love with it and taking grea...

Re: SIGMA 60mm F2.8 DN
As a 90mm eqv FOV it does get you close to that classic 85mm portrait focal length. I have a Tamron 60/2 1:1 Macro in A-mount that doubles as a nice portrait lens, if they made that in E-mount I'd be quite tempted.jeep1 wrote:From a NEX perspective I don't find 60mm very exciting...

Re: SAR rumour CZ E-mount 16-80mm zoom
I'd actually hope that the lens will be a Sony G rather than a CZ. If it's got Zeiss on the front, there won't be any OSS in the lens.
Unless they do both a G and a CZ...

Re: A37 colour temp.
I don't have an A37, but there is likely a +/- adjustment for the white balance settings.
I tend to prefer slightly warmer shots anyway and I'll often have a +1 on my daylight WB setting for my A700.

Re: Lenses for FF?
For Sigma I believe all the "DG" lenses are full frame (as opposed to "DC" for the APS-C cameras).
With Tamron's newer lenses you'd be looking for a "Di" lens (rather than a "Di II" or "Di III").
Check out their websites to be certain...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report
Megan Gale is pretty too, has the exotic touch (slight Maori influence) It's a very favourable mix, European (or Pakeha to use the Maori term) father and Maori mother. I've worked with one particular Maori lady for the last six years, who had five daughters (all grown) with her European husband. St...
