Re: DSLR A1R "professional"

It has to be fake, I came up with the A1R name over at Dyxum 2 months ago. I want to sue someone for ripping off my ramblings for use in their rumor! By the way, the 2 battery thing is believable. As it comes across sounding like it has a built in grip, yet it's using the same battery as the other m...

Re: Why no REAL Zeiss lenses for Sony

Well, that linked saved me from repeating things. I too do wish Sony would just say "ah heck with it, make it so Zeiss". Since that thread though, hell did freeze in some way, as we ended up with Canon mount versions. My guess is Zeiss was bugging Canon, and Canon realized that there was m...

Re: CCD SuperHAD II from Sony?

You can get a shower shutter speed without having to stop down. With such a sensor, folks probably would prefer this as they probably can't stop down too far as you will start to see some defraction issues kick in. Plus just general quality improvements from having even less gain applied to the sign...

Re: Is the MEGA Pixel race over for now?

No, it hasn't, not at all. Olympus have more or less stated they will stay with their 12Mp sensor. This isn't because of MP war, it's because there sensor is tiny. Scale it and you have a 46MP FF sensor. They are pushing the limits hard. It all ready means they have to produce a good lens to manage....

Re: First official specs and pics of A500 + A850

I too use the 16x9 marks a lot. I've used the 16x9 mode too, gives you confidence that when you get home the image will take the crop right and not find you zoomed in a bit too much.

Re: the new 28-75 FF SAM lens

There was never question it was a tamron re-badge. A rebadge of the motorized Nikon version to be more specific. Some of the switches even look to be carry over. Besides, it's a near certainty the SAM drive for the new lenses came from Tamron. Also, the 67mm filter is a dead give away. That's a huge...

Re: 30mm sample photo with the A550

I've heard of this condition, you can't get David Bowie out of your head from it.

Re: First official specs and pics of A500 + A850

It's a basic given an A550 will be more than 12MP. It being an R sensor is something people should stop thinking about. When Sony decides to make large format R sensors, we will know about it well in advance of any camera with them. There will be some press release by Sony about them, and or a break...

Re: New Canon G11 has REDUCED MP sensor compared to G10

I'm rather happy I have my G10. I don't know that I expect any major benefits from the retro grade, I've been happy with the G10. But even if the G11 pans out to be an improvement, Canon took a big step back with the screen. I don't like moving screens. So I'm happy with the G10. The only condition ...

Re: Sony Adapter LA-100W: DSLR lenses on HDV Camcorder Z7E

But that doesn't have the cool/neat factor of being done all with camera makers stuff. I didn't have much doubt such a thing doesn't all ready exist or would soon. But that wasn't the path I was going for. Anyways, novaflex needs to make their website not suck and actually show pictures of the produ...

Re: Cir-Polarizing Filter

Another fun thing is hold the filter between you and your LCD (I'm assuming you have an LCD monitor). Hold it as it would be on your camera (threads towards your eyes). Rotate the filter. You will see a transition from clear to black coming through the filter. If you reverse it (threads towards scre...

Re: Cir-Polarizing Filter

You need to go outside with it and point in different directions, you will see the difference as you rotate it. Polarizers need to rotate so you can line them up correctly to get the effect desired, it could be blue skies, or removing glare from water, what ever. The marks are for reference, I don't...

Re: DK signature sign

For me, it's a creepy thing to see. I hate seeing anything that reminds me of how you are not anonymous on the internet. It's a sign telling me the internet knows to much. IP address an so forth is the things you can't avoid. You can do your best to do the usual things, like not posting your name, a...

Re: Sony Adapter LA-100W: DSLR lenses on HDV Camcorder Z7E

As david says, info on it is slim. I think the answer is yes, it would work on other brands, as it brings no automation to the table. 2 things jump out with me about it. First is how it only has aperture marks to F1.4. A mount was designed for up to F1.2. The lack of showing this could be a sign tha...

Re: What lenses do you use?

I'm trying to reduce my lens footprint. I got up to like 15 lenses at one point. I've owned or do own the following. 2.8/24RS, 2/28RS, 1.7/50RS, 1.4/50 RS, 2.8/100RS, 4.5/400G, 17-35D, 2.8/28-75, 4/35-70, 28-100D, 24-105, 100-300 APO D, 16-80ZA, 2.8/70-200G, 4/70-210, 1.4x TC, 2.0x TC, 1.7/50 master...
