Random Fact of the Night

Hey call, just relaxing after a long day at work and wanted to post a random question for you all. I am sure most of you know that it takes 8 minutes for the light from the sun to reach us here on the earth. However, does anyone here know how long it takes for the light that is created in the sun to...

Re: Thanksgiving Sky Fest

You could still get a couple of shots with a tripod and telephoto lens of some sort...just a thought, you will need a longish exposure for the planets most likely, and that could be a problem with exposing the moon correctly, I see that Venus is going to be occulted by the moon from some viewing lo...

Thanksgiving Sky Fest

Hey All, Just wondering if anybody on here was planning on taking some pics of the show that will be going on in the south west corner of the sky tomorrow night. I will be pulling my telescope out to see it, but since I haven't gotten the parts needed to connect my 8" telescope to my A300, I sa...

Re: Moon shot

Okay, awesome, thanks for the information! I will have to look into this tonight to figure out exactly what I'll need. Looks like a Minolta T adapter, then a ring adapter to mount to the eyepiece, correct?

Re: Moon shot

Okay, weather permitting( it's raining in San Diego right now) I'll try it again tonight with SSS off. Any tips on how to try and capture some of the clouds around the moon as well?

Re: Moon shot

Thanks for the links, I will have to check them out. My Dad has an 8" telescope that I want to try and borrow and head out to the mountains with. Any ideas on where I can buy a mount for my A300?

Moon shot

Okay, this is my first attempt at taking a picture of the moon. http://www.northcountytriumph.com/Images/Moon.jpg This was taken with my A300 in RAW. Shot with the Sony 75-300 lens at 300mm. The aperture was 5.6, ISO 200, 1/60th shutter. This is a 30% crop of the original picture. So, please let me ...

Re: Night Football Game

Wow, thank you so much Sonolta. That is alot of good info. I will keep my eyes open for a decent used lens somehwere that has a more open aperture then my Sony lens. Until then I will just try my best at keeping the aperture as open as possbile to quicken up my shutter speeds. Thanks for the help!

Re: Night Football Game

Thank you Sonolta, any ideas for a F/2.8 lens with a decent telephoto ability? We have decent seats in the statium but I would think that a 300mm would be a minimum. BTW, I am a long way away from being a professional, this is just a part time hobby that maybe one day I can turn into more. Thanks fo...

Took my new A300 with the 75-300 lens to the game to take some pictures. All I can say is that I love this thing!!! Haha...
