Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....
I read the reviews of the A9 with interest and saw the awesome performance of this camera in the videos. I was tempted to invest in an A6300 to replace my NEX-6 and relegate my A6000 to support camera status. Put the NEX-6 up for sale with a minimum price of £175.00 delivered UK. Not a single bid. T...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....
For those of you not built as Tarzan or superman the A9 looks attractive. Just look at the comparison of size here http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/the-a9-is-the-dslr-killer-there-is-no-turning-back-now/ The Canon 1D is over 1.5 Kg and the Nikon 1.4 Kg whereas the A9 is 673g or less than half the weig...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....
Aye, we will see how things evolve. Looking at a couple of the videos available through Sonyalpharumors, the combination of A9 with that 100-400 did not look bad. Quite a nifty lens to look at and not too heavy looking. If you can manage with the kind of min. depth of field this lens can produce at ...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....
A truly impressive camera, but not for me. I was also wondering about the target market and how successful this camera will be. There must be a significance in releasing together with the F4-5.6 zoom reaching from 100 to 400 mm. Could it be aimed at individuals such as females and elderly gentlemen ...

Re: Sony a77II discontinued
I appreciate Barry's knowledgeable comments. I often wondered what was going on in the minds of Sony marketing and development people. I concluded they were trying to "find their feet". At first they thought (wrongly) that they could compete with NIC/CAN in the DSLR market. Then they "...

Re: Sony a77II discontinued
I occasionally use my A58 mostly with Tamron's 18-270 mm zoom. I really only have one complaint, namely the buffer is slow in Raw+Jpeg setting and second shot takes ages to write to card. I think Barry has complained about this silly downgrade by Sony months ago. For my purposes the sensor if very g...

Re: Cards on the table....
Don't need to wait long before the next "cards" are on the table. SAR is busy pronouncing on the next Sony camera release. Cant't believe it but http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sony-a6500-now-sony-a9-3-months/ So a replacement of A6300 is eminent and A9 in three months rumoured with 70Mp se...

Re: A57 v A77 Image quality
Thanks to Barry for doing this comprehensive comparison. Sold my A580 and bought an A58 a couple of years ago. Lighter weight and I like the 20Mp sensor. I think I thought at the time that A hybrid with that 20Mp sensor in the A57 body would be just swell, but again Sony downgraded the body to go wi...

Re: Camera sales still dropping..
I guess you mean brand hopping pako, I have certainly been guilty of that ever since my first DSLR a Olympus E-510, which I kept for nostalgia. classiccameras, no brand hopping here. I went from Minolta to Sony when the A700 with 16-80 Zeiss zoom came out and stayed except for Panasonic LX2/3 &...

Re: Camera sales still dropping..
I purchased Sony's RX100M3 and A6000 last year for Alamy to replace RX100 (no viewfinder and prefer 24mm max. width) NEX-6 (menu and dark viewfinder). Franky, I am so delighted with these two cameras that I cannot imagine a need to trade up or replace any time soon. I am so amazed at the quality at ...

Re: 24mp sensors and lens performance
Just seen David Kilpatrick's 24 April explanation of how the E-mount lenses work, being totally dependent on reliable power supply and clean contacts. I have been wondering about the performance of my E-mount 10-18mm F4. Sometimes it is completely sharp across full width at F7.1 or 8 on my A6000, wh...

Re: 24mp sensors and lens performance
I can only give a partial and "unscientific" answer to this question. I purchased the A6000 last year when Sony provided a £50 cash-back. I only use Sony zooms on this camera, these being E-mount 10-18 wide, 16-50 pancake and 55-210 tele. All my pictures are for Alamy. In general sunlit pi...

Re: Not Sure About New Fuji
I'm a tad disappointed with the over warm and pink tint Jpeg colour hue on my A6000 . Not sure where that comes from. Just been looking at my images taken last week with my A6000 and Sony 10-18mm downloaded through (silly name) PlayMemories, and I see no warm/pink colour hue. In fact it is difficul...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000
I think alphaomega has answered that worry about the 24mp. Pete My 16-50mm pancake is fine on my A6000. Could be a superior copy and I use LR/PS cloud. LR has a lens profile for 16-50 and probably A6000 does some correction as well. You should seek other opinions as well and read a couple of review...

Re: Dentist still uses KM A200
Do you ever use your NEX 6 with old, adapted MF lenses? Actually no, bakubo. I have my NEX-6 set up for MP4 video. I sold most of my MD stuff and gave the rest to my son's students. The only exception is my old 50mm Macro MD (including 1:1 extender piece) with adapter to E-mount. I keep it in case ...
