Re: From my recent trip to Cambodia

Sury, I enjoyed your images. I always say, that street scene images should tell a story, if at all possible. Well, I especially liked the first image, that showed a blend of cultures in cuisines. It made me think. Did you see any McDonald's or Starbucks? I wonder how long it would take for Mexican a...

Re: Sarmonic Preampifires & Audio Adapters

Pako, Thank you for all of your ideas. I can mix+match with all the audio options. Considering all the added weight from all the audio adapters, cables etc., I'm thinking again about the Panasonic FZ-2500, that has it all for audio, except maybe not the best glass. From what I've read, Sony has the ...

Re: Sarmonic Preampifires & Audio Adapters

Pako, Thank you for your comments. The Tascam 40 looks like a good option. I wish it has a hot shoe foot. I'd rather not have to hold it while I operate the camera. Maybe a double cold-shoe connection to a bracket would be an option. I like the looks of the hammer & Anvil microphone. I'm disappo...

Sarmonic Preampifires & Audio Adapters

As you know, the Sony digital cameras, DSLRs and mirror-less, do not have any connections for headphones and no audio adjustments. I just discovered several products, that offer the capabilities of audio controls and headphone connections. I think the Sarmonic CA Mixer condenser microphone kit and t...

Re: Any a57 users here?

Marco: The A57 has a lot of new features that I kike, plus it has gimmicks that I will never use. I like the AF zoom and color peaking. I'm guessing that the mount might not be as strong as previous Alphas, because there is a caution in the A57 Handbook, to support a long telephoto lens and camera w...

Re: Any a57 users here?

I just bought the A57. It's a wonderful camera, that requires time to learn all the features. The A57 Handbook PDF, that comes with the software disk, has a lot more information than you get on the booklets. I was thrilled that Adobe upgraded PS CS5, with Camera RAW 6.7 for the A57. Now I don't need...

Questions on electronic first curtain shutter

I am curious on the relationship between the Sony Alpha and Canon electronic first curtain shutters. I found the article below that has some information on the Canon electronic first curtain shutters. I assume the 60D and The T3i must also have an electronic first curtain shutter, but those DSLRs ar...

I suggest an image of the actor Barry Fitzgerald as an option. I can't explain it, but I just have this persona in mind. Pick out an image here: http://www.movieactors.com/actors/barryfitzgerald.htm

Re: A57 to be announced on 13 Mar 12 (per SAR)

I'd like to know if the A57 has Sony A65's shutter with electronic first curtain mode. Perhaps, Sony has yet to announce another SLT to replace the A580. There was a rumor about the A600, that has Sony A65's electronic shuttter with first curtain mode. I read some where that Sony would have three an...

Interval or Time Lapse Photography

I've been looking forward to a Sony DSLR with the interval shooting option. The Konica Minolta 7D was ahead of it's time, with the interval shooting option, but the batteries couldn't power the camera for long shoots. I wish I had bought an AC adapter. Sony has not put that option into any DSLR. I k...

Re: Sony Lens Discussion Index on Flickr

Kevin: That cartoon expresses my experiences with camera clubs. it's all about gear. If you don't shoot with Canon or Nikon, some people will make you feel like a commoner at a Royals' banquet. I could use a Donald Trump quote to express my opinion, but I will use better judgement. ;) I don't have a...

Re: NEX VG10 and Mamiya 80 mm lens

David: I was not mistaken. I am quoting a price from the manufacturer and B&H; it's $606. That price is for the Mamiya ring adapter ($487) and the Alpha mount adapter. You need two adapters to mount a Mamiya 645 lens to a Sony DSLR or NEX. You also need the Mamiya ring adapter to mount the lens ...

NEX VG10 and Mamiya 80 mm lens

I found this link on the Mamiya website. This story is of interest to me, because I'm looking for a Mamiya lens adapter to pair my Mamiya 645 lenses to a Sony DSLR. I determined from my readings that the Novoflex adapters may be the best, but the adapters cost $600+. Fotodiox doesn't have a Mamiya l...

Re: α560/α580 are coming

Just a thought: I read in another forum, that a new owner of the A580 has trouble focusing with a Minolta legacy lens. After reading this posting, I searched the 560/580 and A55 operation manuals. I'm glad I downloaded the PDF copies of the manuals. I discovered that in the A560/580, Contrast AF is ...

Re: Adobe 'Release Candidates' Camera RAW 6.3 and Lightroom

I found a couple of A580 raw files online at
http://andrebernet.ch/divers/index.php? ... 80samples/
I converted the ARW files using the SONY IDC software to TIFF and to JPG with CS4 and CS5. I didn't notice any differences in JPEGs between the Adobe PS versions.
