Re: Sigma HSM APO AF 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG HSM First Shots

Thanks David.
In that case I might try that option as well. It's by far the most economic option, particularly if you only need 400 mm incidently.

Solving the problem with a 2x convertor would indeed be a good one if the converter really works. I think I read somwhere you had issues with the 2X convertor ? Did Sigma take care of that ?

Re: Sigma 70-200mm HSM review up

David, did you test the 18-250 on a Nikon mount or Sony mount camera ? Sony mount camera. I've got the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 for Nikon, but the 18-250mm OS is on Sony. I have previously also tested it on Canon. Never on Nikon. David Just tested the 18-250 on a D300. Until you get close to 200 mm you c...

Re: Sigma 70-200mm HSM review up

David, did you test it on a Nikon mount or Sony mount camera ? I couldn't really get that out of your text. lock Brief test on Nikon D3, then I bought one for my A900. The final opinion is based on A900 results. I should point out that I have NOT used a Sony 70-200mm SSM, only a Konica Minolta era ...

Re: Sigma 70-200mm HSM review up

I've written a report on the 70-200mm HSM II now: http://www.photoclubalpha.com/2009/07/10/the-sigma-70-200mm-f2-8-ex-dg-hsm-macro-ii/ A report on the Sigma 18-250mm DC OS HSM will follow soon. David Hi David. I heard the Sony 18-250 has a slow AF though faster than the Tamron equivalent. How's the...

Can I simply send a 70200G to a foreign Sony service center?

The problem is that Sony Netherlands refuses to send it a factory in Gödöllö to get it adjusted. They only want to do some body based adjustments. But they failed twice already and they also said their options were limited, and they do not repair lenses themselves. So, does anyone know if I can simp...

Re: Sony Moiree method of testing the AF.

No, its a GIF file (1000-1000 pixels). It's also in use by Canon as far as I've understood. True, we can't see the direction of malfocus, nor can you see how much. But with a full picture sent to Sony, they actually can analyse it. They mailed me an estimated BF of 8 cm (in this setup). That's an am...

Sony Moiree method of testing the AF.

I just received a part of the Af test Sony Europe is using to test the AF-accuracy. Description is missing, but I already knew this type of test. It's based on the moiree pattern you get when the AF is optimal. The test has been developped to get a quick and fairly accurate index of the AF bck or fr...

Update on Sony repair: slider unit replaced...??!!

After I found out that the pictures still back focused, I called the repair center. I confronted them with the Sony policy that equipment that has to be sent in for the tird time, will be replaced for a new one. They weere very impolite and told I got it all wrong. I insisted I was right, but than t...
