Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I've not used the new CC version but the forums are awash as per usual with complaints about performance. I did try LR6 trial and I'm not seeing any improvements over 5 for performance. Honestly over time having used all previous ones the software has got slower and slower, not just exporting but ma...

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

Henry they are valid points I do have projects/work files that will need to edits kept. But the solution could simply be to continue to use LR5 and transition across to another solution for new work or where I simply don't need to keep those edits. There are only really a couple of weddings I have l...

Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I always liked the software still on version 5 as I felt the need to update was not really there for me on V6. With the recent news of Adobe putting LR as subscription only (from 2018 no more updates to 6), and no more stand alone versions. For me the creative cloud subscription just doesn't work, I...

Re: Not Sure About New Fuji

There are too many good A mount lenses around at nice prices to worry about buying E mount lenses :-). My X10 is still going and I use it quite a bit for stills and videos (it's not nearly as bad as some sites said in fact it's quite good for video) If it dies I won't replace it with anything unless...

Re: Future of A mount

Well no sign of the A77III unless it makes an apperance next year. That leaves the aged A77II at a price that's near to it's initial release in 2014. the A68 budget one and the A99II. Still something is better than nothing, out of all the bodies I can't see anyone buying an A77II for that price, A99...

Re: Sony a77iii rumor

Have to admit I do use GPS a fair if they had an add on that might be suitable. Lack of GPS doesn't bother me on cheap bodies it's something I'd like on higher end ones. The phone method is not nearly as hassle free A77 I just erm take the shot it's already embedded in the files jpegs or raw

Re: Sony a77iii rumor

I suspect it will make sense to have this update if they can beef it up. Obviously people expect 4K more video modes etc, new sensor better performance. Probabaly won't be cheap though. Only reaon I passed on the A77II was the sensor didn't offer much over the A77, the other improvements whilst wort...

Re: GAS is back - Sony FE 100 STF

I remember looking at the 135mm STF and thinking wow nice smooth rendering. But then I looked at my 90mm Tamron and thought hmm that's pretty damn good for smooth backgrounds too and it's rep for a portrait lens is justified real world use, failing that the 70-210mm F4 also thrills me in this regard...

Re: Tiny sensor revenge gallery thread!

I really wish my A7II had two card slots. That way it would be very difficult to forget to take a card with me, and have to use my phone instead ;) https://c8.staticflickr.com/9/8285/29683146991_9596635353_b.jpg 2016 Brockhampton - Summer Day by Birm , on Flickr Brockhampton medieval manor house on...

Local paper freelance and copyright

I did some jobs for a local paper, however they insisted on owning the copyright on images I took with my equipment. This was on a per job basis. As far as I am aware the normal procedure is for the photographer to license the images to the paper (so they can print them). For freelance work the phot...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

I'd like to see a taxi driver run for next election (never will happen and no not the De Niro film type either!) Onto the camera and article probably a trade off in design it's very much aimed at a specific type of shooting. Not that you couldn't use it for landscape shots etc; I read on SAR before ...

Re: broken Sony 24-70mm G-Master lens

It's not shocking that a lens mount broke away it does happen. There might be a design issue (as the video says they revised it). What is unusual is they rejected it twice for service ie warranty. I mean looks open and shut to me ie fix it for no cost customer has not abused the lens. I hope he got ...

Re: broken Sony 24-70mm G-Master lens

no comments surprising. It's not shocking to have something fail even an expensive lens. What is interesting is that they disputed it as a warranty repair when it seems to be just that ie manufacturing fault.

Still on LR5 didn't see any obvious reasons for me to upgrade to 6. I would never subscribe to a software company if I want something I'll buy it thanks very much!

Re: Why I sold my Plustek 7200i

The V550 is on a par with the Plustek for real resolution..but you need to take note on the sharpening the Plustek applied quite a bit by default (not a problem for printing), the Epson with sharpening off is fairly soft but at low or up it's on a par with detail v the7200i. I would add I was never ...
