Re: AF in artificial lighting conditions.

Hi, I have an A700 with firmware updated to version 4, and I'm experiencing this. The only wide angle that I have at the moment is a Tamron 17-50/2.8 and when shooting indoor I'm using it MF only just because of this. Thanks for this post, it's good to know that I'm not alone, and now I understand w...

Re: MS Pro slot nonsense

That ones pretty cool. if I threw that in my bag I wouldn't have to carry the silly cable when I'm away. No, I don't have MS nor MS-Duo, but after reading this interesting thread I wonder: why not?! I didn't try it but looking at it it seems quite bulky. I'm quite sure that it will occupy more than...

Re: MS Pro slot nonsense

Just 2 questions for all: 1- do you have a USB flash stick (or whatever it is called) in your pockets (the capacity doesn't matter)? 2- is there an adapter for MS to that USB thing, which putting/fitting inside, you can just plug to the PC (I am not talking about those universal card readers, just ...

Re: Involved?

Lack of use. I have no special need for 200mm Apo G, it was acquired because Morgan had one when KM closed down and I offered for a bunch of lenses. Had I known the prices they wanted and certain arrival of full frame, I would have had a 35mm f1.4, 100mm f2 and 85mm f1.4 as well or instead - but I ...

Re: A900 vs. D700 @ DPReview

LOL...NO, Not Quite! JPGs are also for people that can get the shot right in-camera...that way we don't need to do post production at all, and we don't waste unnecessary time and storage space either That's exactly what I'm trying to say. JPGs don't have to look good at 100% but they have to print ...

Re: A900 vs. D700 @ DPReview

I don't print very often but I prefer jpgs that do print very well rather than jpg that do look nice at 100%. JPGs are intended to be down sized for web display or printed, because you don't have the time to work on them (otherwise why not to use cRAW instead?). The only customers who will inspect y...

Re: A900 vs. D700 @ DPReview

I agree with you alphaomega. Perhaps I would prefer a D700 right now, but I think that Sony did it right choosing an high resolution sensor for the A900 not only because MPixel does sell well (just run a serach on Google for "Sony A900" and you will see a lot of forums impressed by its pix...

Re: A700 (v.4) and Alamy

Thank you David, after reading some topics in Alamy forum I've understood a little better how it works and it is quite simple, indeed. At the end I have only to answer the questions: How many peoples (or part of them) are in this picture? 0, 1, 2, 3, ... and Do you have model release? yes/no. It is ...

Re: A700 (v.4) and Alamy

Thank you for the encouragement  Actually the key-wording stage is quite frustrating because I don't know so many words in english.. and I know that key-words are as important as the picture itself. WordReference.com is a big help, but it's time consuming. Hopefully I have access to Venice and...

Re: A700 (v.4) and Alamy

Yesterday I've subscribed to Alamy as contributor, and today I've passed the QC control. I'm using the A700 and I didn't removed/edited the EXIF infos. I think that you have only to be very nitpicky when selecting your pictures and develop them carefully. I'm new to stock photography, I would like t...

Re: A700 - purple frame issue

As far as we are given to know there are only few users reporting this, so we can still hope that it won't happen to our own camera... I experienced the "First Frame Black Out" with the D5D, and I remember that the very first suggested remedy was to clean the contacts on the lens mount. I ...

A700 - purple frame issue

Some A700 owners are reporting a new kind of disease affecting their A700s. It is the first time I read something like this, and as far as I know it wasn't happening before firmware v4 update. Officially Sony doesn't know why this is happening, and it looks like a random behavior. Here is the origin...

Re: Photokina with the A900

The man has incredibly thick skin. I always read with interest David posts in his blog and I think that this forum is really useful because it gives direct access to his enormous knowledge. After I start lurking in search of more informations about A900 from a user point of view, I was a bit sorry ...
