Re: Ordered an RX100

Just for Bakubo - we are in Kyoto today (!) and in spite of typhoon Jebi went to a Yuzen dyeing class as part of our trip. A friend P*S'd us in fluorescent lighting with my RX100. A dash of white balance in RAW in LR, export jpg and there you are.

Re: Ordered an RX100

I've got the model 1 and it's a super camera, even without the upgrades. A pit bull bit it a couple of years ago and Sony said it would cost $300 to replace the screen and in their opinion, not worth it. So I bought a screen off ebay and did it myself. The camera trundles on. Enjoy! I'm seriously co...

Re: In praise of inferior lenses (the very wide range zooms)

In a way this is the argument that got me to buy the RX10 iii. I still have all my A77 stuff, including the great Sony 70-400. but the RX10 is the camera I always have with me. Especially traveling with SWMBO it's just too much to carry the big gear. Having a very good (as opposed to semi-pro) 24-60...

Re: Blurb B&W photo books

Just read this thread. Very interesting. I have had 2 color books made by Blurb and was happy with the results. Until reading this thread I had not noticed the "dots" and nobody else had commented. I guess with color they are much less obvious than in your first B&W. Anyway, just so yo...

Re: Mergansers

Great photos, but they are Wood Ducks, not mergansers. Wood Ducks are cavity nesters and yes, all the ducklings take the fall, sometimes from considerable heights, to leave the nest.

Birds from Malibu

Our Audubon chapter has a monthly walk at Malibu Lagoon - our chance to step on expensive real estate. I was trying out my new Manfrotto gimbal-like mount and it seems to work. Here are three shots from last Sunday: DSC00871__ILCA-77M2.jpg Song Sparrow DSC00865__ILCA-77M2.jpg Common Yellowthroat (&a...

Re: Birds 2015

Dusty - that is one cool add-on. Thank you! It even has options to show only the basic information (f-stop, shutter speed, etc) which makes it easy to read.

Re: Birds 2015

Oligarch I'm no wiz and others may have better ideas but for access to EXIF data I down loaded Irfanview. I think you can find it somewhere on Sony's "Play Memories" program too. My question is how do you make EXIF data available to forum visitors? I know it's all in the photo but there i...

Re: Birds 2015

How does one display EXIF data? I can't figure it out, so here are the bare facts about the three previous photos: All taken with a77ii and 70400G at 400mm and about 50-60 feet distant. Cactus Wrens ISO 160 handheld; Bluebird ISO 400 on tripod; Sparrow ISO 500 resting on lowered car window.

Re: Birds 2015

Just bought a used 70400G and took it out last Saturday. It seems to be a decent lens 8) . All taken Jan 10 near Lancaster, California.

A77 II micro focus setting

I've set my camera to correct for back-focus on my lenses. Do I now set the "AF Adjustment Set." to 'off', or do I leave it 'on' when shooting?

Using DNG converter +LR on A77II raw files

I'm inches away from pulling the trigger on the A77II, but my software can't handle its RAW files (LR4 and PS 5). I know I can convert any ARW to DNG with Sony software. My question is, is there a difference in the final 'product' when comparing LR's importation of these files (means upgrading for m...

Successful Home Repair of RX100 LCD

Since it was successful I decided to make a new thread with an appropriate title. A pit bull bit my RX100 and shattered the LCD - no other damage obvious and it still took photos. Sony repair told me it would cost $300 to fix and it wasn't worth doing. So I ordered a replacement LCD from Amazon. htt...

Home fix for busted RX100

Believe it or don't, I've had my RX100 bitten by a pit bull. You can see little teeth indentations on the front (thank you non-plastic body) but on the back she made contact with the LCD and it's toast. The camera still takes pictures so I'm hoping only the LCD is broken. Anyway, Sony tells me it wi...
