Re: What operating system/s do you use?

I am still amazed at how far we have come since the days of the Commodore 64 and TRS. As of today, I use the Apple w/ Eizo for photography and use Windows XP.,VISTA 64 for business/accounting reasons.

I hope to soon update my Vinyl Records to 8_Track. LOL

Re: how about high iso`s with the A700

Gustav, I am glad that you both got out alive! There was a program on the radio this week with a farmer saying that if you were in a field and cows ran towards you, if you had a dog on a lead, just let it go and they would chase the dog. So, it's always useful to have your children with you when vi...

Re: Tripod??

Personally I think tripods and heads are way over priced today. I think just about any steady tripod/head will work, granted it is rated for the amount of weight you intend to attach to it. The only exception to this rule would be the use of tripods with large prime lenses 300mm and up and specializ...

Re: Michael Jackson

I think Michael Jackson was a complicated and complex personality. Regardless of his short comings, we all have our own, his contributions to the music industry are simply phenomenal.

Re: 100mm macro & 50 mm macro

"Fortunately" I know very little about macro, but as of late I have been playing around with the 200 f/4 from Minolta and the Twin Flash. I think I like this lens over the 100 and 50. Seems to me the 200 has a much longer working distance and is every bit as sharp and bokeh is unique to ol...

Re: saw this duck attack a swan on sunday

We have a lot of Canadian Geese in this area. The Southern States of the US. Tom made a very good point that Geese in mating season are very aggressive to the point where I have actually seem them cripple another goose. Keep in mind that Geese, once partnered stay so for life! Yo...

Re: saw this duck attack a swan on sunday

Geese are VERY territorial and quite aggressive. Looks like the Canadian Goose and it will defend its territory quite fiercely. It considers the area around him to be home and will run out any strangers.

Nice capture,

Re: Dynax 9: SSM upgrade available again

I want call them cheap but they will be less expensive and of lower quality. Obviously because of there price point. I have yet to find anything cheap about photography. The SAM (Smooth Auto focus Motor) recently announced my Sony. Today I got several calls regarding this and I figured I would ask t...

Re: Minolta 100mm f/2

You can buy the 100 f/2 for about 900US on average. Until you have used this lens extensively at the film plane and in digital, I don't think you can appreciate its full potential. Its still the sharpest Prime Lens Minolta made at "f/2". Then again sharpness does not always delegate price....

Re: Minolta 100mm f/2

There is no cure for lens lust. However there is a temporary and treatable solution to this illness. Just buy one lens every time symptoms reoccur. 8)
