Re: To David: What compact do/would you carry?

I went to EVIL system to save size and weight, but for me is clear with EVIL system (APS-C) will be impossible get a small size camera/lens with regular fast zoom. My EVIL camera start to work from now with prime and kit lenses. I was trying different advanced compact cameras, the only and right way...

Re: More from Gustav on Sony Alpha in 2010

What is interesting about these charts is they don't take account of the system, only the brand. It would be interesting to see what happens to the 2009 and 2010 Panasonic interchangeable lens figure if it is combined with the Olympus figure, as the two effectively constitute one system (just as Pe...

Re: SONY ALPH A A750

A final possibility is that the camera has no OVF, and the pellicle mirror serves only to feed an AF phase detect sensor array. Since it would be a full sized mirror, the AF array could be much larger ad cover the entire frame - even more points, and wider spread, than the Nikon MultiCam 3500. The ...

Re: Alpha 550 review is now on line

I think it's essential for contrast detection AF and that is the main reasin they have taken this route. SSM, not SAM, is needed for video - it's vital to keep operating sounds to a minimum volume level, and SAM is louder than SSM. David Surely we can hear louder both motor system (SAM and screw-mo...

Re: Alpha 550 review is now on line

Would a on-lens micro-motor be more accuracy and faster than on-camera screw-motor for contrast AF?

I think Sony could be changing its lenses for a future contrast AF LV system.
The micro-motor seems precise with fine and short movements than screw-motor and these would be useful for contrast AF.

Do you think the a380 CCD sensor with a better Bionz and firmawe (like a550) could offer something else and better?

This CCD could be the best way to macro, portrait, landscape, etc, but in a better body.
I hope the a380 doesn´t be the last one with this sensor.

Re: just ordered the A230

i`m only getting the A230 so i have a dslr kicking about. I have gone back to sony as i have a fare few minolta lens sat collecting dust from my 35mm cam. The D90 is actually a very good cam but it does get rather heavy when used all day. Also the menu system was not perfect for me .Some of the af ...

Is the only way to 3X crop you can get at least 6MPx.

Re: Could Sony release a EVIL system coherent?

http://photorumors.com/2009/11/09/ricoh-gxr/ It will be announce soon (just in hours)... This is my proposition for a EVIL system: Actually the sensor and processor technology is very advanced and the best optical solution could be a fixed lens. Here a example: http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/465...

Could Sony release a EVIL system coherent?

Ricoh is announcing its new EVIL system, a modular camera... Sensor and lens together... what is that? I really hope, if Sony announce a EVIL system, something at least like the Sigma DP/Leica X-1 but with interchangeable lenses A GF-1 like system will be cool, but if it is not possible I don´t want...

Re: SONY ALPH A A750

Sony will almost certainly rebrand the video-capable range entirely. I would not be surprised if it was not called Alpha, and had its own line of lenses in addition to an adaptor allowing the use of SAM and SSM lenses (but not older Alpha screw-drive lenses). If they don't take this direction for A...

Re: SONY ALPH A A750

Lately, I doubt a 14 MP FF camera would be perceived as "low-spec." Nikon is doing amazing things with light-gathering on a 12 MP sensor. 14 MP would be only slightly more dense, but if Sony could squeeze ISO 12800 out of it as well as Nikon dose with theirs, I'd be willing to pay more th...

but they will probably strip it down 3-5fps, 90% viewfinder magnification and other f-u's that we dont want.... but will make it finally the low noise answer Sony needs but with tradeoffs). Re: SONY ALPH A A750

Might it not be an A800? Carl Garrard has said that A800 has been mentioned as the name if a future Alpha camera. Furthermore, in response to my question as to whether he believes there will be two A7xx cameras, Carl said no, that he believes there will be an A7xx and an A800. Given the presence if...

Re: SONY ALPH A A750

By all means it WILL be an APS-C. Full frame is just right with the higher end A900 at 3k and the hi-lower end A850 at 2k. A Canon 7D and Nikon D300s midrange DSLR is all Sony is missing. Both are APS-C and without a doubt the A750 will be APS-C. I agree... if this "new" FF 14MPx sensor i...
