Re: Sony's 100mm macro??
Another beauty is the pocket rocket aka Minolta AF 135/f2.8. Minimum FD is 1 meter so pretty close to the subject and not so intimidating due it's tiny size. Just a great lens. If you ask me one of the best non G Minolta lenses. Another story will be the Minolta or Sony 70-200 SSM. A great lens, min...

Re: HOW VENTILATE A FLYING DOG
That's actually a good shot of something I dislike intensely, we have them here, there is a flying fox colony on the other side of the river in the mangroves, and at dusk they fly over in their thousands. They make a huge mess of the mango tree, the custard apple tree and the avocado trees in the y...

Re: Sony's 100mm macro??
What about the good old Beercan Minolta 70-210/4. ? F4 troughout the whole range and a wide range at 70 close at Portraiture distance. Seems like the Beeran does well on the A900. Perhaps a little soft wide open but as I understood that should not be a problem.

Re: Challenge 2: Long Shadows
Great shadow cast shot Doctor. One with a historical Value. Hard too beat, if not impossible. Like the original better than the adjusted. By taking away the space in the middle you removed "the distance" between a leader and his people. In the original this distance is emphasized by the co...

The 1.1.5 Win version can be downloaded from the 5400 series instead of the 5400II series.

Re: Challenge 2: Long Shadows
Hahaha, thats a funny article. All the stereotype aspects of the Dutch are mentioned. not all of course but some, like tulips and cheese (that is what tourists like to hear or read about hahaha). But it's true Henry, it took 12 years since we had a serious frost periode. It was awesome and a lot wen...

Re: Challenge 2: Long Shadows
My tribute in this long shadow challenge. Some Ice skaters in the afternoon. PP in LR, gave it the standard Lightroom preset Cold Tone. Tweaked some matters in the curves section like extra darks to enhance the shadows and silhouets from the girls against the bright sky on the right. Furtheron norma...

Re: Minolta Dimage 5400
I found this on an other forum. Perhaps it might be any help to you. A couple of weeks ago I had to upgrade my machine and install Vista (Business, 32). At first I feared my 5400 would turn into an expensive doorstop, however, I discovered that not only Vuescan, but Minolta DiMAGE Scan (the final ve...

Re: Hoar-frost
I have a Samsung Syncmaster 940 BF. For me good enough it helps me just fine throughout my entire workflow. Of course there is always better (Eizo e.g.) but mr Brown can't afford the prices from these expensive jewels.

Re: In defense of the A100
Thanks again Vidgamer. I sure will have a look into RAW Therapee, RAW converters draw my attention. For MRW files I book the best results with C1P btw.

Re: Hoar-frost
I must admitt that the horizontals and vertical lines in the background's first are a little distracting. Halo's I can't discover but what I do see is artefacts around the branches caused by the workflow and resizing method (I assume). I do have a calibrated screen btw. In fact I recalibrated it jus...

Re: In defense of the A100
Looks very good to me. Low in noise and of course som noise noticable @ 100% crop. I'm intrested in the two RAW converters you used. Which were they if I may ask? Rawhide (which is still considered to be "alpha" status according to its author, I think), and Raw Therapee, are the two I've ...
