Re: α560/α580 are coming
I had a play with a 580 with CZ 24-70 the other week - a great camera for what is being offered and if I had the cash available now I would probably look at this as an upgrade from my 700. Not sure that the roadmap for EVF is a good idea but only time wll tell... The 580 should satisfy most demands ...

Re: A850 and 28-75 in Jessops at £1299
Have just picked up on this. Not sure if the deal is still on but a couple of weeks ago Jessops were also offering the 70-300G at £399.
Crazy prices considering they are now selling well below ”Sony staff” price

Re: Sony alpha A55
The sensor is also new (the prototype has a 18Megapixels sensor) SAR got that bit wrong... I never imagined that that really matters (SAR publishing right or wrong data...) Shame as people will look at this site as expectations based on information from a ”relaible contact”. Looking forward to the ...

Re: GPS?
A couple of years ago I bought the Sony GPS thing but found it a bit time consuming to use all the time (switch on - wait for signal to be acquired -download data - tag pics). If built into camera I am sure I would use it more, but I am wondering how quickly it can acquire a signal? Sometimes you ha...

Re: Sony alpha A55
I don't do astrophotography with either a specialized astro cam or a DSLR but lots of people do. I remain too be convinced as to an EVF's usefulness in seeing faint things like Nebula and Galaxies, how much does an EVF interfere with your night vision? One of the other guys that was in the demo ses...

Re: Sony alpha A55
OK - lets talk EVF! When you look through the viewfinder it is obvious that it is electronic BUT the quality is still very good. We were using them inside the office so can't comment on what it is like under natural light but I was impressed. The advantage of the EVF is that you can have things like...

Re: Sony alpha A55
I believe the embargo is lifted tomorrow and I should then be able to provide some thoughts on the evf. Still going to leave you guessing on the specs for the 7xx but a start!

Your Opinions Please - What Lens Or Lenses Do I Need?
Next week is the Sail Amsterdam festival and we have a 'Sony Boat' in the sail in on Thursday. I have a fairly limited lens selection (see my sig) so was thinking of borrowing some glass for the event. Bearing in mind I will be on a boat for approx 5 hours with lighting from daylight to night what d...

Re: The 550 is dead?
One thing I think I can say is we had an internal focus group on new cameras. Other guys are a lot more serious than me and when asked what was vital MLU and AEL were probably top. Think if feedback gets to the right people then it does address a lot of concerns

Re: The 550 is dead?
Great: a new rumor is cooking at photoclubalpha! David, you'll have to put some adds on the forum also, in order to pay for the hosting and all that... My intention was not to create a new rumour. I have had my hands on one of the cameras that has been speculated on in this thread (full production ...
