Re: Got an Alpha 350 about two months ago......

I like my A350 has well, I really like the results I get outdoors, great colors, but I'm having lots of trouble in indoor flash shots :( Hi Stevecim, I have only taken a few shots with the flash on the camera, indoors and they have come out OK. I don't have an external flash unit as yet, but I woul...

Concerning WB, I am shooting RAW+JPG these days so if WB is off, it's easily corrected in the RAW converter.

Welcome Ecam! We're eagerly waiting to see some of your pics! 8) Concerning WB, I am shooting RAW+JPG these days so if WB is off, it's easily corrected in the RAW converter. Hi Bossel, It will be a while before I post any pics because I really don't have much to shoot right at the moment. I will in...

Re: Got an Alpha 350 about two months ago......

...Have you done any experimenting with any of the white balance lens caps on the market? What do you use to calibrate white balalce? ECam No, not a white balance lens cap, but you can do almost the same with a pure white napkin instead. I don't know if the A350 has the mode to take a white balance...

Re: Got an Alpha 350 about two months ago......

Congratulations ECam. :D One of the main reasons (if not the principle one) was the steady shot (Anti Shake) for switching from Nikon (film). Had to switch to digital. I had 2 options with steady shot, either Pentax or Sony. Sony came out with the A100 quicker... I still have great and utmost respe...

Got an Alpha 350 about two months ago......

......and I am delighted with the camera. I am especially happy with the Super Steady Shot feature. I took several shots inside, with limited light and a slow shutter speed and got no blurring of the picture due to camera shake. I also used my Minolta 105mm - 210mm zoom lens outside in sunlight, han...

Hello David, I will be very interested in your assessment of this "white balance lens cap". I will keep checking for your posts on the subject. Thanks.

Re: Comparison images Alpha 350 versus Canon 7D

Hi David, didn't realize that you were shooting in studio with a flash. The white balance lens cap I was talking about is brand named "Mennon". The web site is www.mennon-usa.com. Sorry to get off topic (discussion of the difference between the Sony A350 and the Canon 7D), but I was lookin...

Re: Comparison images Alpha 350 versus Canon 7D

In comparing the pictures from the Alpha 350 vs. the Canon 7D, the difference appears to be due to the variation in the AWB adjustment made by each camera. I was wondering if any of the "custom white balance calibration tools", like an 18% gray card, a Melita coffee filter, or one of the v...

Re: Sony DSLR A350 and Sony DSLR A380 comparison questions

Made my decision about the Sony A350 vs the Sony A380 cameras. I bought the A350 and the SAL 18-55mm wide angle zoom. The A350 body was $499 and the lens was $199. I also have two Minolta zoom lenses that I used with my Minolta 3xi film camera (a 35-70mm and a 70-205mm), which was the reason I decid...

Sony DSLR A350 and Sony DSLR A380 comparison questions

Is the Sony DSLR A350 body with a Sony 18-55mm lens (or equivalent) a better buy, quality wise, than a Sony DSLR A380L (which comes with the 18-55mm Sony lens)? They both have a 14.2 MP sensor, but is the quality of the sensor on the A350 better than the sensor on the A380? Is the A350 body and cons...

Re: New Sony Lenses

Thank you Kevin Barrett for posting the link to the test comparison of the old Sony 18-70mm kit lens and the new 18-55mm kit lens that comes with the new Alpha bodies. Of course, this test is far from being definitive, as well you know, but it gives a good indication that the new 18-55mm kit lens is...

New Sony Lenses

Does anyone get the feeling that the new Sony "kit" lenses will be of similar quality as the present 18-70mm kit lens Sony sells with its Alpha cameras? If the prices listed for the new lenses are any indication, they will probably be of the same quality. I have also read that the new bodi...

Equivalent focal length?

Calculating the "equivalent focal length" of a lens originally designed for a 35mm film camera, as I understand it, is required because the area of the APS-C size sensor used in digital cameras is smaller than the area of a 35mm film frame. Thus, lenses designed for film cameras that are s...
