Re: Should I purchase another a850/900 ??
MANY THANKS to ALL of you real pro's who replied to my supposed dilemma. "Supposed" because your answers made so much sense and agreed with my own thoughts on the matter that, as soon as I receive my trade in from Adorama Camera (USA/NYC) for my a700 and APS-C gear I'll apply that to a new...

Should I purchase another a850/900 ??
Problem; I believe that Sony will be getting out of the full frame DSLR business and will not support FF accessories, like FF lens', software updates, etc., and will only move toward the smaller cameras. David's latest post of Friday June 24 (latest a77 rumor) indicates to me that Sony is only geari...

Re: Need Flash Recommendations/Help
Thanks ALL for your help. Looks like the Sony 58 is likely the best for me to stay with right now, but that Metz sure looks good. I just have to adjust my shooting style and go back to shooting in Manual Mode on both the flash unit and camera. I did this (M) with my A-100 and Sigma flash both in M b...

Re: Need Flash Recommendations/Help
Thanks David for the quick reply. The metz MZ76-5 has a GN of 76, and the Quantum T5Dr has a GN of 160. Costs of both are about $1,000.00, with battery (US). Are you saying that the Quantum produces about the same amount of light as the Sony 58 ?? The Quantum looks better to me.
thanks
thanks

Re: Need Flash Recommendations/Help
Thanks David !! I looked up the Metz 60CT4 and it appears that that model is discontinued. However there is a Metz 76MZ-5 which may be the replacement and looks like want I need. What do you think of the "Quantum Q flash t-5DR" as an alternate ?

Need Flash Recommendations/Help
I have been shooting many candid events lately and am having a problem with my flash proving sufficient lighting. I expect a photo to look well lit as it did in my old flash bulb days (am I asking too much ?). I prefer to bounce the flash (when possible) for indirect lighting, usually no problem whe...

Re: Sony DT 18-250 f3.5-6.3 Dissapointed User
To Bakubo. Sorry I almost forgot to post your request of cropped pics. All samples submitted were shat against a green chromakey background, the white is added as a new background (the color of type of scene used as a background does NOT make the line go away). 1. Unaltered - without color differenc...

Re: Sony DT 18-250 f3.5-6.3 Dissapointed User
Follow up. This sample is using the Sony 55-200mm Kit lens, shot with DRO Off. This shows that the lens does make a difference. Here you can see the blanket edge detail much more clearer than in the other samples (with DRO Off). Lesson learned - when shooting against a green or blue chromakey backdr...

Re: Sony DT 18-250 f3.5-6.3 Dissapointed User
I just shot this (using my non union models) with DRO OFF, using the Sony 18-250mm lens, with a not blown exposure, and viola!! Clean edges all around.
Glad to see all the reply's !!

Re: Sony DT 18-250 f3.5-6.3 Dissapointed User
Yes I do tend to make things too bright in PP, Sonolta (who has a great thread) has pointed that out to me, and I'm working on it. Attached is an underexposed and untouched pic, shot JPEG Fine, standard DRO, and did not go through photoshop (as with the other samples). But I think you are on to some...

Re: Sony DT 18-250 f3.5-6.3 Dissapointed User
Here are three samples (I had to reduce the files quite a bit). You can see that they are not color fringes but outlines. The photo captions explains which lens used. They were not corrected, and all had the same processing in the FX software. The Sony kit lens did the best job with having clean edg...

Sony DT 18-250 f3.5-6.3 Dissapointed User
I recently purchased this lens for my A-700 and wasn't wild about it (not very sharp) but decided to keep it anyway for event shooting (I like the 18-250mm range). I also was using it to shoot portraits (using green chromakey background), and could not figure out why I was getting a dark outline aro...
