Re: Mountain Shots

Here are a couple from my last trip to Patagonia (El Chalten, Santa Cruz, Argentina). Have been camping and hiking for about 10 days on the mountains so I had to go as light as possible, that's why couldn't take my Alpha's. This pics were taken with my Sigma DP2. Very slow AF but overall nice little...

Re: Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS HSM user report

Sorry forgot to report about that: This lens doesn't have full time manual focus (i.e. like the Sigma 70-200 HSM). So the only way to focus manually is to disable the AF using the switch on the lens. Don't know why they made it that way... I suppose to keep the price down, but it's a shame really. I...

Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS HSM user report

I recently got this lens, and I'm using it on my A700 and A100. Overall it's much better than my old SAL18250, better contrast, sharper, much faster and quieter AF and brighter. I also have a Sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM II and two bodies so I don't really miss the SAL18250 range :) The optical improvement ...

Re: A100 shutter button and viewfinder

Thank you all. I've already adjusted the diopter, it's the first thing I do :) But now that you mention it... maybe that can be part of the problem, it seems the diopter has less range of adjustment than the A700's, and I always used the A700 at -3. I've just checked the A100 specs and it only goes ...

A100 shutter button and viewfinder

Hi, I've bought an used A100 and the shutter button sometimes feels a bit slow/sticky. I've read that many Canon users clean the D30/D40 by just pouring some isopropyl alcohol around the button, pressing it a few times and letting it dry a couple of hours. Do you think this is safe to do with the A1...

Amazing pictures. Really interesting to see how people lived at that time.
If anyone knows of more old photos please post the link ;)

I believe you have the signs inverted. It should be "< f/1.4" and "> f/4" AFAIK.

Re: A560? or A7xx?

I thought that photo was from the A7xx too. I like the new position of the on/off switch, in fact that and the top LCD were the two thing I missed from my D50 when I switched to the A700. I also believe that micro focus adjustements are a requirement for a camera in that range (I still hope to get a...

I thought an EVF pretty much always displays 100%. I wonder if this 95% spec is accurate? Anyone know why an EVF wouldn't be 100%?
Not sure but maybe it uses an alternate sensor, like liveview does?

Re: POLL: Why do you buy camera gear?

Ok :D But I think nobody will choose #2... maybe if you put something like 30%/70%,50%/50%,%70/30% or something like that... :) I don't know why someone wouldn't choose #2 if it the primary reason. I tried to make it clear that probably none of us are all #1 or #2, we are all a mix. Which is the pr...

Re: POLL: Why do you buy camera gear?

I also do both. I love photography, and also love the cameras because they allow me to take photos. I also love photography because it allows me to use these amazing devices which are the cameras :) I like technology. I work with technology and while I'm just a hobbist photographer I enjoy both thin...

Re: Is there a lens or are there lenses

The Sony CZ 135mm f/1.8 is an amazing lens. It can be used for many things like portraits, recitals, and many others.
