Re: Something you don't see everyday

Sury Don't know if it's an optical illusion but can I bowl from this end, looks nicely downhill for my advancing years - if you won't let me I'll just have to try the wine !! Even a non crifcket fan would have enjoyed Kevin Peterson (ex SA) punting the SA bowlers all round Headingly (UK test venue) ...

Re: Do you still use your REALLY old lenses?

Mark I have a FD to A mount glassed adaptor & whilst I don't use it often I found the results from using my old FD50mm/1.8 with the A100 were much better than I had expected & would be surprised if an MD adaptor was much different. Certainly perfectly adequate for web use & even pixel pe...

Re: Do you still use your REALLY old lenses?

Artington Thanks very much for the link, interesting results, could spend an hours or two pottering around in there ! See what you mean re the price/quality balance, interstingly (? maybe) I note the little Olympus 135/3.5 has very similar results, I wonder if there is some design reason why , other...

Re: Do you still use your REALLY old lenses?

@ artington, saw your comment regarding the Minolta MD 135/3.5 above & wondered what was so bad about it ? I've been looking for a MD fit 135mm & don't want to spend the sort of money the 2.8's go for so was restricted to the 3.5 version & now you've put doubts in my mind !!
Thanks

Re: I want a pocket NEX

David
Not sure how appropriate this is but if you would like to sell your viewfinder I'd be interested, I looked at sending you a pm but it didn't appear to be allowed.
Please pm me if OK but understand if this needs deleting !
Best wishes

Re: Clone batteries and NEX-5n

Hi John
The battery I refer to in my post above is stated as being specifically for the 5N & works fine so far with full reporting of % content etc, seems to have a similar life to the Sony one but that's my feeling & not a scientific test !
Good luck

Re: Clone batteries and NEX-5n

I've not had my 5N long before ordering an ExPro Power plus battery that seems fine so far, but v.limited use to date so will keep in touch.

Re: 35~200 Xi

I got mine years ago when I first went "Minolta", to go with a Sigma 24 - 75 & 505Si super, it was always a great combo. Love the lens, completely agree about the glow & bokeh, will post some when I get a chance ! Only negative is that mine has always hunted in low(ish) contrast si...

Re: Pace of change accelerating

If you're prepared to buy via e-bay (new) then abt 700GBP for 5N + 16mm + flash + VF, not sure how much the new MA adaptor is or whether it incorporates a VF as well.

Re: Pace of change accelerating

I've been thinking of buying the 5N + the new A mount adaptor &/or (not sure about this bit) the viewfinder which effectively gives you a NEX 7 with 16MP + use of all the Alpha mount lenses doesn't it + old legacy glass (with adaptors) ? Could be the best of all worlds..... No I won't say what I...

Re: Sony service UK

I recently had cause to return my A700 to Sony and they dealt with it most efficiently & were very helpful. I decided to insure it when posting (via Royal mail) & was told that the Freepost doesn't include insurance so ended up paying about £7.50 for postage & insurance which I thought w...

Re: ACR 6.1 and process 2003 versus 2010

David, Thanks for the "heads up" - FWIW Our office copy of PSE8 only had RAW version 5.5 loaded but there's a free download on the Adobe website which was installed last night & appears to work OK although I didn't have time to do an in depth check.

Canon FD to Sony Adaptors

I still have my old (but good in their day) Canon FD lenses & am also keen to try the 400mm f 5.6 Tokina long tele on my 700. I have seen various glassless & glassed adaptors on e-bay & at SRB, has anyone tried any of them ? Comments ? I understand from trawling the posts here that the g...
