Re: Teleconverter - safe to use with Sony 500mm reflex lens?
Thank you, David. I'd be using the A900 on a tripod. I read your note to say that, at f/16, I would not see the moon well enough through my OVF to be able to focus accurately with manual focus - do I have that right? Perhaps a 1.4X TC would be useable? If so, B&H here in NY carries Bower, Kenko,...

Teleconverter - safe to use with Sony 500mm reflex lens?
I have the Sony 2X teleconverter (TC), which I use with my Sony 70-200 G lens. The User Guide for the TC warns not to use it with any lens other than 3 specific lenses, or damage could result. I want to try a 2X TC on my Sony 500 reflex lens for some moon photography. I assume I shouldn't use the So...

Re: Lightroom - Exporting ARW files with adjustments
First of all, thank you so much for these thoughtful responses! Very much appreciated. Second, my research suggests that I would be at no disadvantage, and might possibly be at an advantage in some cases, if I convert to DNG files on import. That would seem to be the easiest way to deal with this is...

Lightroom - Exporting ARW files with adjustments
I run Lightroom 3 (and CS5) on both my laptop and my desktop. My workflow is to import my .arw files from my camera to the laptop, make adjustments in the Lightroom Develop module, and then, using Lightroom, export batches of developed files to a memory card - I then transfer that memory card to my ...

Re: a700 to a900 any tips/surprises ?
ImNoAnsel - I just got my A900, after using my A700 for a couple of years. (Haven't even taken a picture yet!) Can I ask YOU what you have found in terms of tips/surprises since you made the same move? Thanks!

Re: What are some of your habbits in shooting sports and act
Dusty - Well, I finally got my MY dosages right, so I figured I'd weigh in on something I have learned a little about. With 4 kids who are active athletes, sports is often the only thing I have time to shoot. Dr. Harout - What I meant was to underexpose by 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop. Lots of the sports I ...

Shutter Priority (remember to watch for the aperture notation to flash and adjust shutter speed if you're out of exposure range) Adjust ISO so you can use shutter speed that you need Center-weight exposure Consider adjusting exposure compensation downward for outdoor sports, to avoid losing highligh...
