Re: Broken a580 battery door

This may sound like a dumb and expensive idea to get around what you really need but on e-bay there are a ton of third party vertical grips for the A580. Some of them come with an extra door for on the 580 you must take the door off to attach the grip. I purchased the "sony" vertical grip ...

tripod lubricant?

I have a carbon tripod that has one section of the legs that are sticky. I think it was sap that somehow got on one section and when closed smeared on next etc. I took it apart and wiped it down really good. It is now all clean and works fine accept now I think it needs a little oil on it. I don't w...

Remote shutter release cord for PW

Hello all I have several pocket wizards (Plussii) and I want to use one to trigger my camera. I purchased a remote shutter release cord that plugs into the commander remote socket on the side of the camera and the other into the pocket wizard itself from Flashzebra.com. ( tem #0094 Shutter Release C...

Re: Tripod for hiking

Hi mvanrheenen Every summer my wife and I head out west to Glacier, Upper and Lower Bighorns, Yellowstone and Tetons areas. We usually carry the 70-400, 70-200, 2x's and 1.4x's and 2 camera bodies with misc lenses. We do a lot of hiking back woods looking for elk, moose, bear, goats etc. ( I do alot...

Re: Lens Filter/Autofocus question

I have nothing but B+W filters and have never had a problem. In fact I have 2 sets and one set is specifically for the A700 and tamron 17-50 2.8 @ 67mm. I have their ND's, Graduated, Circular polarizer, linear polarizer and clear. I would agree with David. This was my first synopsis. My second..........

Re: Using the HVL-F58am as a control

Thanks David I was starting to think that it might not work. Actually you would be correct if I paid for everything at retail price. The only reason I was trying to set it up this way was I got 3 pocket wizards for $300 which is a steal and I got 2 HVL-58 guns for $500 another huge steal. I wanted t...

Using the HVL-F58am as a control

I spent an hour with sony last night on the phone and I was passed off to an engineer. Not sure if I will get an answer to this from them so I thought I 'd throw this out to you guys who do studio work. I am using an A700 with the sony hotshoe adapter ontop and a PW Plusii ontop of that. I have 2 ot...

Re: pocket wizards?

Here is what I have put together and see what you think. I think it should work fine but I just thought I'd run it by you guys. I purchased the sony hot shoe adapter made by sony. I got a screaming great deal on a "used" one at more than 50 percent off. The hotshoe adapter will be placed o...

pocket wizards?

A local studio is getting rid of some used stock ( triggers, unbrellas, stands, backdrops etc and I was asked first if I would be interested. I know very little about studio lighting but it could be fun to use for my yearbook activity in school. I need some input! He has 3 pocket wizards he currentl...

Re: Tokina 11-16mm vs Tamron 11-18mm?

Hello All, I am half way through my 6 week trip of the Eastern US coastal trip. I ended up selling my Tamron 11-18mm for $375 and put up $150 more for the new Tokina 11-16 2.8. I can't post any pictures right now but let me tell you.......This lens is OUTSTANDING :D It is very sharp! The hood and ca...

Re: The Nex3 and 5 are now available on Sony.ca ...

They are on sonystyle.com (USA) Pre-order and all. I just checked and they are now in a column all by themselves. I really wonder if sony meant to have that add on television last night (North America) and on site today. I don't recall seeing them on sonystyle last week.

Tokina 11-16mm vs Tamron 11-18mm?

I just received an e-mail from adorama that the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 are in for sony. ($599) I was seriously considering buying one for the reputation on the Canon and Nikon reviews are excellent. I found someone to buy my Tamron 11-18 for $400-$425. Is the Tokina worth upgrading for $175? When compar...

WHAT... IS......NEX?????? SONY! (Lost theme)

Holly smokes monster! Sorry to sound like batman but here in the USA very seldom do you ever see Sony putting out much TV advertisement. Last night during the final 4-1/2 hour LOST series, which if you live outside the USA you are probably saying what is he talking about right now, I saw a new side ...

Re: Variable ND filter

Thanks David. Good stuff If you say that the results were good with the Hoya linear polarizer ontop of the Minolta CP then that is what I was looking for. I have a good 77mm B+W mrc cp already so I am going to make take advantage of the local camera shop and send a friend into there to buy a hoya li...

Re: Variable ND filter

David, When I looked it up on the net the same words were used " CHEAP linear lens". Does the linear filter NOT have to be of good high quality glass or do you mean cheap as in price? Are you saying I could use a simple Tiffen $15.00 or is it more sensible to get a $40-$60 Hoya or B+W line...
