Re: RX100 wow ! :-)

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It's worth considering the accessory grip from Richard Franiec too. Makes a difference to the handling.

Re: RX100 wow ! :-)

The RX100 can be summed up in one word - "Amazing"!. My previous compact was an LX3, which was a superb piece of kit. The IQ of the RX100 blows it away. The images have a depth to them which its difficult to describe. I'm biased, (as I own one!) but I have no hesitation in saying "Buy...

Re: RX100 wow ! :-)

I gather a charger will shortly be on sale in the UK. :D

BTW, I took the RX100 on a recent weekend trip to Berlin. The IQ is incredible for such a small camera - it was an absolute joy to use too, and very discrete for street stuff.

I was fortunate to go on a trip to Antarctica earler this year - wow, what a place! On the return journey, I spent a day on the Falklands and took a tour out to the King Penguin colony at Volunteer Point. We only had a couple of hours there but I managed to take hundreds of penguin photos! This one ...

Re: SAM 85 f2.8

I just got the 85mm SAM on Friday, so will be giving it a test on my A700 later today. I also got the 35mm SAM recently. I for one am delighted tht Sony has produced some affordable primes which, for their price, seem to produce some excellent results. I'll let you know later how I get on - sadly th...

November in Vilnius

I took this shot last November on a trip to Vilnius. As we were also venturing into Belarus I thought it best to leave the A700 at home, so took the 5D & Minolta 24-85 instead. This image was taken in the main square - I just love the coloured buildings, which make the place so cheerful. Shot in...

A700 colour issues

I tend to shoot a lot of my images as JPEGS, partly because I don't have a lot of spare time to process RAW images. I also tend to use Adobe RGB as opposed to Standard, Neutral and the various other options available, but find that landscapes in particular don't record a true green - usually it is ...

Latest Whipsnade Photos

I went to Whipsnade Zoo on Sunday afternoon and managed to get the following images (out of a great many more that I took!). All were taken as RAW images and converted to JPEGs using Elements 7. Sony Alpha 700 plus that magnificent beast of a 70-300SSM G lens, which is simply awesome! I'm considerin...

Re: A700 and Photoworld

My 5D has suffered from intermittent FFB for several months now. I don't know if its related to the 7D problem, but mine seemed to be more temperature-affected - worse when cold after a period of non-use. Although now the happy owner of an Alpha 700 :P I have sent the 5D to Johnsons Photopia in Newc...

Cheetah - up close & personal!!

Had an amazing trip to Victoria Falls, Lesotho & South Africa recently - loads of photos naturally! Just about wore out my 5D (so much so it's now a second body to my new a700!) Got some good landscapes, but also some close up shots of cheetah - these were taken on foot about 4 metres from the a...

Portland Lighthouse

Recently treated myself to an a700 :D and went on a trip to the seaside yesterday at Weymouth as we have a photo competition ("The Sea") coming up shortly at my camera club. Very impressed with the quality of images from this camera! I used the Sony 16-80ZA (awesome!) and a Sigma 70-300 AP...
