It is very good. The lens snaps when in focus. The SONY version is a tad better.

As I understand it...

The new battery has a chip that the a700 is looking for when connected. It tells the camera precisely how much charge is left. If the chip is not there, the camera will not run. Conversely - the battery does not care who uses it, so either the a100 or the a700 may.

Looks great but I need samples. I was not buying immediately anyway - if ever. Not sure if I will use the camera to its fullest capabilities. I just want SONY to move forward and rattle the market a bit. Take the A700 for a test drive David and let us know how you feel about its performance. Please ...

Can't wait to see the reviews from David and DPReview. I've read that it does not have LIVEVIEW. Oh well, wasn't on my wish list anyway but it would have been a nice 'bling.' Perhaps when the dust settles, I can purchase one to be my main camera (my a100 can be my backup) in January or February. The...

I have purchased the Friedman guide and I love it. Even went to one of his seminars and have learned a great deal. $19.95 US is no biggie then I just use up some toner at work... hehehe.

It did bother me. But I since been using Neat Image, and now I use ISO 1600 for indoor parties and low light situations. The program can batch 'clean' many files at once. Google for their web site. They have amazing examples.

Still, yes, I would hope that the new Alpha would have lower noise.

No failures for either. Have not tested them in extreme weather yet. The only test I have done was to shoot RAW continously. The SanDisk took 2 more shots than the RiDATA out of I don't remember how many. It was the first thing I did when I received the SanDisk - I was bored. But to answer your ques...

Greetings from Chicago, IL!

The Alpha is my first DSLR. My last SLR is a Canon Rebel 35mm (before the popup flash). Prior to that I had a Canon AE-1 Program. I had purchased the A100 last year in August 2006. Because of the digital technology, I had confirmed what I thought previously with my film SLRs - that I did not know ho...
