Re: August 23 press release
I think the A7xx cameras are next. Gold Award for the A55 at DPR, and glowing review at The Imaging Resource: "For the enthusiast with time to become acquainted with its capabilities and familiar with its quirks, the Sony A55 truly expands the realm of amateur photography further than any SLR t...

Re: Later NEX models I would like to see
Vidgamer says: Sony isn't saying, so we're left to speculate, but I agree -- that accessory port has a lot of pins for something. If not EVF, then what? I remember (I think) David K. mentioning that the question was raised at the launch and the Sony people converged in a "huddle" and even...

Re: alpha mount future - question for DK
Why would Tokina do a deal with Sony when they are starting to make lenses for A mount themselves? I don't follow the logic. As for Pentax I've heard they have some good stuff in the pipeline, we'll see more about that soon. I'm also pretty sure the K-x has been a very good seller for them. A few y...

Re: The 550 is dead?
Barry, It does appear, from the numbers I posted on DPR yesterday & which Henry (Bakubo) has linked to on this thread, that some dslr or dslrs that Sony has been making during the last year or so have in fact been selling well--in fact apparently better than the Panny & Oly M4/3 models, worl...

Re: Sony alpha A55
Sorry for the bad English. No problem. No reason to apologize. Seeing that they will realize in parallel similar models with only one main difference - "translucent" mirror. Maybe we should expect not only successor to the A700, but and a "ranslucent" model with the same ...

I like the last part of the review "the Alpha 390 is bulky, slow and unrefined"
One day the message will get through to Toru.
Maybe sooner the message Toru is sending will get through to you.

Re: The 550 is dead?
By the way, this is still all your guessing/hoping, right? As to whether what I have said is "still all [my] guessing/hoping"--no, most of it is from Sony Alpha Rumors. Okay, a lot of this is just rumors such as the Thom Hogan rumor about Sony thinking about stopping FF. We'll just have t...

Re: The 550 is dead?
Winedarksea do you think FPS sells cameras on it's own? I personally doubt that it does bar some action shooters. And yes I have tried a Canon EOS-1D Mark III @10fps, this type of body is entirely unsuited to my type of shooting (too big, heavy and clumsy..not saying it's bad just not suited..I'd t...

Re: The 550 is dead?
I disagree females are the bulk of DSLR buyers. I'm sure they account for a decent number but if you target products to one group at the expense of another you are asking for trouble. That's pure and simple common sense. What happens with NEX I don't really care as it has nothing at all to do with ...

Re: The 550 is dead?
1. DSLR with traditional mirror and A-mount--yes, but WITH video . I'm pretty sure the A5xx & A7xx cameras will have video, & I believe the A9xx will also. At this point, however, the A290/390 do not have video. 2. DSLR with pellicle mirror and A-mount--video--yes--with EVF. 3. NEX with no ...

Re: The 550 is dead?
If somebody want's to tell us all "who Sony are aiming at" I'm all ears! And don't say point and shoot users because I won't believe you ;-) Women, Barry. Sony keep repeating this at every press conference I attend. They are targeting women, not men, with their cameras. They believe that ...

Re: The 550 is dead?
My only comment was that the A380 is a very capable camera. It is. I had one briefly and sold it, preferring to keep the A350 - for some of the reasons Barry might agree with. But I am not the target market, nor is Barry, and it does begin to look as if all the things 'we' don't much like have very...

Re: The 550 is dead?
So, if this is all true then it looks like Sony will have 4 lines of interchangeable lens cameras: 1. DSLR with traditional mirror and A-mount -- no video 2. DSLR with pellicle mirror and A-mount -- video 3. NEX with no VF only LCD and E-mount -- video 4. NEX VG-10 videocam with E-mount 1. DSLR wit...
