Re: Post about the A7R II up now
Remember, I'm testing them in Canon EF mount using a Commlite adaptor. Even, they function really well on the A7RII - just the occasional communication glitch (common even with Canon lenses)... ... I have a Canon 40mm f/2.8 STM lens which cost me £95 and works extremely well with the Commlite. It's...

Re: Post about the A7R II up now
My thanks to David on the a7RII review; especially since I will be buying this camera soon.
As usual, I find David’s thoughts far more interesting and informative than the vast majority of ‘I’m-rehashing-the-same-data-sheet-like-everyone-else’ reviews.

Re: Post about the A7R II up now
... AF is really fast but too bad only in day light. Native 90mm macro and adapted 70-300G have been performing marvelously ... Are you using the 70-300G (original?) with the LA-EA3 or LA-EA4? Any additional comments? Would it work well in an indoor arena or a nighttime baseball game? Bruce

Re: Using The LA-EA4 for alpha mounts
You say "And even if that weren't so, the existing APS-C mirror less cameras just don't fit me (even the admittedly very nice a6000)". Why is this so? I find the A6000 extremely versatile, perhaps more so than the A7R. Fair question with no real answer. The a6000 is versatile and while th...

Re: Using The LA-EA4 for alpha mounts
For a while now, I have been looking for a significantly lighter mirrorless alternative to my present walk-around solution of an a850/Minolta 28-135. For a variety of reasons I'm not crazy about the file quality/ image malleability of m4/3 or even most APS-C. Admittedly that is a very personal take ...

Re: Sony E PZ 18-105G with a7 or a7R NON-crop mode?
It's not unusual to get some pincushion moving up the tele range on a zoom lens like this (18-135mm has some too but it's not near this level) Actually an 18-105mm f4 would have been ideal for A Mount Anyway the level of distortion is quite huge, and I have to say just about all the mirrorless lens...

Re: Sony E PZ 18-105G with a7 or a7R NON-crop mode?
I find this lens also interesting, You can probably get more information from users reviews (like this at B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1001011-REG/sony_selp18105g_18_105mm_f_4_g_lens.html) I'd pretty much given up on this tread but when I checked in tonight, there was interesting ...

Re: Sony E PZ 18-105G with a7 or a7R NON-crop mode?
I never would have found this Camera Store vid, so thank you. And it gives a useful and somewhat unique perspective for me on the lens that is useful. As a rule I dislike 'anything' by wire unless it is implemented to accurately mimic the 'real deal' This 'sloppy manual focus' might be annoying beca...

Re: Sony E PZ 18-105G with a7 or a7R NON-crop mode?
The very few images I have seem to show that this lens is very sharp in the center and with indeterminate quality (to me) edges but there are issues with geometric distortion. I've read that this can be addressed natively in Lightroom 5.3 and ACR 8.3 I'm running ACR 6.7 but have downloaded a Lens pr...

Re: Sony E PZ 18-105G with a7 or a7R NON-crop mode?
The fact this lens has been on the market for a full month and very few extensive user reports exist, throws up all sorts of red flags for me. Usually when ANY new photography product comes out there is a flurry of anecdotal reports and that hasn't really been the case here. I suspect that the bigge...

Sony E PZ 18-105G with a7 or a7R NON-crop mode?
I'm curious about this lens specifically and the use of any APS-C e-mount lenses on FE cameras in general. So how does this APS-C 18-105 lens cover a FF sensor when crop mode on these two FF cameras is turned off. Its very conceivable that this lens has a rectangular baffle that masks anything outsi...

Re: Full Frame UWA choices
If you really want to go rectangular WIDE, try the all manual Samyang 14mm. Its very inexpensive, yet quite sharp with little CA and quite good flair control for such a lens. The geometric 'mustache' distortion is very complex but the cheap plug-in or standalone, PTLens, controls it very acceptably....

Re: NEX7 EVF et al
This makes perfect sense, David, and explains the discrepancies in my experience from many others. And my experience is limited to a modest number of times handling a friend’s NEX7.
Thanks everyone.

Re: NEX7 EVF et al
I’ve gotten an answer of sorts…at least indirectly. It seems there is no problem with the Nex 7 EVF (and by extension the a99) and it has a perfect viewfinder, even when in dimmer lighting. No one can explain why the EVF granulates in poor light because apparently it doesn’t. Or at least that’s how ...
