Thanks everyone for your advice. It seems I will be staying with zooms and a choice between sony and tamron 28 -75 - I will try to find examples to test in a shop to see what I would prefer to use.

I have recently moved from a700 to a900 and was wondering if people had any tips or had any surprises in the same move, e.g. the way you take photos or the subjects, or the post processing, or ..., I have just upgraded my ballhead and those files are big in photoshop ! Cheers Roy

Thanks for the replies - Kevin I read the article and the tamron seems a better lens than the Sony, and a very good deal if you get a good copy. Very interesting that people say it is better to get a lens repaired than get a swap, I guess QC in production is not as good as QC in repair. Surprisingly...
