Re: Travel advice please

Hi Wes, Good advice indeed, I have budgeted for a netbook which would allow me to upload pics, and update blog/web page/emails etc. I am more interested in which are the better sites to save too? i.e. picasa, or dedicated web site etc. So many seem to give a little space for free and then charge sil...

Re: Travel advice please

Hi Dr. Harout, Actually we did look at going from Turkey to beautiful Armenia (apricot country!), Georgia and Azerbaijan. We know we can get the Iranian visa in Armenia, but it was all about timing. Plus the strange border restrictions between the three. And taking the cargo ship from Baku to Turkmen...

Re: Travel advice please

Hi Dave, Thank you for your input too. Going slightly off topic as sometimes does on these colourful messages, I too have had problems with SD cards, mine being a Sandisk one. Most card manufacturers I think know that every now and then they will turn out a "duff" one. I sent mine back to ...

Re: Travel advice please

Hi everyone who has replied, some very useful advice in all. Most of which is all good common sense, I particulaly like the shower cap idea, inexpensive and very practicle! I have two sony batteries plus plug and charger, the plug also fits the chatging block to my small and rather dated Canon ixus ...

Travel advice please

Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone can help me out. I am planning to do some serious travelling in the next 6mths(fingers crossed and house selling). I have travelled a bit with my Sony A300, but only for a max of three weeks, and usually in dry weather. Has anyone done anything longer and more dusty, ...

Re: 1st Potrait picture ever

Hi Sury, yes you are right, it was hazy, but it was about 3pm-ish and still getting hotter! I do find that a lot of my pics , especially more rural than city, get this haze, I couldn't work out if it was the pollution, or sand and atmospheric dust? Now I know. I do miss the crispness with landscape ...

Re: 1st Potrait picture ever

Hi everyone Thank you for all your feedback it is really appreciated Lonnie, I hadn't thought of using the Tamron, I thought it might be too "close", but I see after your other comment that it would be a good way of getting closer and pulling the subjects face into the picture. Bakubo, I w...

Re: Help with Indian Bird

Thank you for everyone's contributions, much appreciated. I think I will do some looking up on the "Tawny Eagle" today and see if they match up. I do love trying to capture birds on digital, I find that this is sometimes restricted by lens, and time to sit and wait. This was one of those &...

Re: 1st Potrait picture ever

Thanks, at last ! I honestly thought it was so rubbish as I wasn't getting replies. I was worried people might not want to sound to critical, but how am I going to get better if I don't get any feedback? Anyway yes I see what you mean about pic 2 re the bright sky, and getting closer to the face. So...

Help with Indian Bird

Now that I have your attention, may I ask if anyone can identify this bird of prey I took whilst on my recent trip to India I would appreciate it. Any comments would be good as it was a particulaly difficult pic to do with the bird of prey actually circling around tring to dive down and get fish fro...

Minolta SLR's Price Recovery

Is it me, or has anyone else noticed the recovery in price of secondhand Minolta SLR's. I found my Minolta 700Si had dropped dramatically some 6-8mths ago, when it was relatively worthless next to some Nikon equivelents. Not to me it wasn't! Anyway after perusing certain online auction sites, I now ...
