Re: Nex-5R and Nex-6 Handbook

Thanks for posting. I'm surprised that these two cameras share a manual. I thought there were a lot of differences?

Re: Kipon tilt adapter

I purchased an M42 model and it looked good, but had the wrong thread. It took me ages to persuade the supplier that I had a regularly used M42 adapter and did know what I was talking about. Eventually the supplier came back and confirmed that his entire stock marked M42 was the wrong thread. Just w...

Re: Ful frame rumour about NEX - is it possible?

Would the sensor need to be exactly 24x36 for it to be called 'full frame'? After all APS-C is a highly variable 'standard'. They could make it fractionally smaller.

Re: Sigma 19mm EX DN samples

Anthony ............. so I figure with 24 mpx I can crop later.) To throw more into the mix, I understand Rokinon/Samyang are releasing an 8mm f/2.8 soon. Obviously, there is no one solution but I was hoping someone had some experience to share that might make my choice easier. Ken Ok, I understand...

Re: Sigma 19mm EX DN samples

Kenneth - I can evaluate this for you if you can be a bit more specific. Firstly the physical data: I am not sure that I would even class the NEX-7 and the 16mm as 'ideal' for a jacket pocket. The combination will fit in most jacket pockets though. The 19 mm (with lens cap) projects 24 mm (0.95 inch...

Luminous Landscape NEX-7 vs A900

I almost bought an A900 just before the NEX-7 was announced.

Re: Spirit Level for Nex

Thanks Pako. I was about to purchase one immediately until I saw the price. I have been thinking about making my own.

Their L-bracket tripod mount is rather neat, but it costs $115.

They are a bit late with this. I sold all my beautiful OM lenses for almost nothing 10 years or so ago!

Re: New Sigma primes for NEX

At last! F2.8 is fast enough for me.
19 mm (28.5 mm equivalent) f2.8 140 g (4.9 oz) projects 45.7 mm (1.8 in) from body
30 mm (45 mm equivalent) f2.8 135 g (4.8 oz) projects 38.6 mm (1.5 in) from body

As a comparison the kit 18-55 mm projects 60 mm and weighs 194 g (6.85 oz)

It doesn't. The 16 mm does.

I meant with a Sony NEX E-mount, not needing an adapter. It does not exactly fit in a pocket!

Re: The case for the 16mm

I think you have been reading too much DPR and are looking for problems. There seem to be a lot of people active on DPR who had no experience using a wide angle lens before they purchased the NEX. I have three 16 mm options on two APS-C systems. The other two cost almost 10 times as much as I paid f...

Re: The peaking mode with old fast lens ...

On the Dpreview NEX forum there were some comments that "peaking" did not work as well as MF using magnification. A little of my background. I was trained as a metallographic photo-microscopist. In the past I have not been able to MF as easily with an camera EVF compared with a good OVF (...

Re: NEX-7

I was not refering to any Minolta or third party lens, but a new lens from Sony -that didn't happen because they prefered to desing a high end lens, luminous and big, and misregard what users are asking for: compact primes. I was also hoping for a 24 mm f2.8 (even f4 would have been ok) pankake equ...

Re: NEX-7

In other hand, apparently the NEX7 does not support the IR remote control (REF: http://www.sony.lv/product/dsb-nex-7/nex-7k#pageType=TechnicalSpecs) or PictBridge This is almost certainly an error on the Sony technical specifications. At best it is misleading - see David's comment earlier in this t...
