Where's the Fish?

Another day at Occoquan National Wildlife Refuge. And no ice or snow! And not much birding ops (but this is because I have a lot to learn about birding) in the afternoon. Except for a couple of herons, one of which is show below. Where is the Fish http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn319/wmllamas/va...

Re: Winter Warm Up

Thanks for the comments. The area that is off limits is pretty limited, but it is essential that the eagles nest in peace, so to speak. That being said, not all the nests are in the area marked in red.

Re: Winter Warm Up

Thank you for the comments. The eagle pictures are cropped - I was using the 70-400G and the eagles were still quite high (even with an APS-C camera). I have to keep coming back to the place (especially once the nesting season is over) to see if I can get closer to the birds (and to see other types ...

Winter Warm Up

It was a warm day last Saturday - a perfect day to drop by the Occoquan National Wildlife Refuge for a walk. The eagles are nesting, so part of the refuge is off limits. Here are some pictures. 1. Water Observation

Trying out my new Tamron 90mm macro. Winter has been brutal here in the East Coast, but we in the mid Atlantic are happy we are not in New England. 1. I gather that this must be the beginning of the rice planting season. Brings back memories.

Re: Oshima in the Seto Inland Sea

Interesting, informative, creative shots. You don't see these kind of pictures too often, let alone that part of the world too often. Thank you for opening eyes (mine and many others).

Re: Learning to use the A77II

The ability to focus quickly (and more assuredly) was great. Of course, it could just be wanting to believe in my own expectation. More importantly, though, it made me go out and try to take pictures that I haven't tried to take before (on a more serious fashion). And lastly, it is a fun camera to u...

Learning to use the A77II

I recently purchased an A77II and am in the process of learning how to use it. I also ended up getting a Jobu Jr 3 gimbal head because I wanted to learn how to photograph birds in flight (plus, I didn't think I was actually going to win the bid on ebay, the price was really nice). Here are some pict...

Re: PSS

I don't think it's called a pinwheel either but that's what it looks like to me. I wish I knew a lot more about the stuff that I am taking pictures of. On the way out of the garden yesterday, one of the volunteers told me that there are Cedar Waxwings in the garden. Huh? After looking them up at the...
