Re: What would be a suitable upgrade from A200
I have been doing photography now for just over 2 years and feel that my A200 is starting to under perform. I'm not currently in the the market for a new DSLR but I obviously will be in the future and wondered in the current market what would be a good choice of Sony DSLR to go for.... been reading...

Re: Where to start with a life time of slides?
£8 inc post will buy you a custom cut 5 x 4 sheet of opal perspex (I got five of them made, minimum order). Purchase an IKEA ornament lamp, or an LED source, and make a slide copy rig. I have done several tests now using the A900 and a macro lens, and also the A550 and macro lens, and as long as th...

Re: XP with Lightroom 2
The programme seemed to load OK on to the PC. When I tried to open the programme numerous folders, including the develop etc modules and the usual launch icon, appeared on screen. When I tried to run the programme from the LR icon or tried to open the develop module I got the configuration error me...

Re: XP with Lightroom 2
I have tried transfer the file using a USB stick. It was the first thing I tried. Having downloaded one trial version (only 604 days to go!) I can't download another - I guess Adobe reckon one trial is enough. If I could transfer the programme to my PC and make it work I wouldn't have posed the que...

Re: XP with Lightroom 2
The obvious thing to do is to get the trial LR2 on the desktop so you can see for yourself if there are any issues. Note that if you have issues with no internet connection now then this will affect your ability to get updates unless you get used to downloading to the laptop and then moving the ins...

Re: XP with Lightroom 2
The system requirements say 1GB so I would be tempted just to get more RAM for the desktop. Try Crucial to get an idea of the cost and hopefully advice on what your upgrade options are. If you are worried then ask Adobe or whoever you want to purchase from and if they tell you 1GB is ok and the sof...

Re: XP with Lightroom 2
... my desktop PC which I use for editing doesn't have an Internet connection so I can't trial Lightroom on it. Huh? Of course you can. Copy Lightroom's installation file onto an USB stick or a CD-R and connect/insert that to your desktop PC. -- Olaf Before posting I had tried copying via USB stick...

XP with Lightroom 2
Advice please. I have a trial version of LR on my laptop and it works fine with Visto Home Basic and 2 GB of RAM. However my Desktop PC which I use for editing doesn't have an internet connection so I can't trial LR on it. Question is whether my Desktop running XP with 512mb ram would work OK with L...

RAW + JPEG on Alpha 100
RAW images work well on my system as do JPEGs .
But recently I took a series of RAW+JPEG images. When I download there are no RAW images. This is in CS and Image Data Converter.
Any ideas how to get at the RAW images. I would like to print one.

Buying Sony 16-80 lens in New York
My son goes to New York next week and with the dollar being so low at the moment it seems a good time to ask him to bring a 16-80 back with him to England. Can anyone advise please where is a good place to buy in New York ( he will stay in the Manhatton area) and what their web site addressesis/are ...

Minolta 17-35 and Sony 18-50
Following an earlier question I decided to get an 18-70 for use on my Alpha 100. But On second thoughts maybe a Minolta 17-35 would serve my purpose better because I could use it on my Minolta 35mm film camera. The 17-35 is more expensive ( £225 v £79 secondhand with usual guarantees) and heavier bu...
