Re: Milky Way Shot taken using the Samyang 12mm f2 lens
Thanks. That's not the sun by the way - that's 2 floating lights for shipping navigation - these shots were taken about 1-2 hours after sunset (around 2200 in late summer here in the UK).

Milky Way Shot taken using the Samyang 12mm f2 lens
After seeing David's review on the main site, I thought I'd dig out my login details and post a few samples I took last summer in Kent (UK) using the Samyang on the a6000. For the sake of clarity, these images have had quite a lot of work done in post to bring out the Milky way and remove a few prob...

Re: Photokina 2014
There really is something strange here - my friend runs a camera shop here in the UK and even he gets the occasional loan from Sony (albeit more at the consumer end of things). On the other hand, speaking to reps on Sony open days etc, I get the impression that demo stock of the good stuff (high end...

Re: Landscape 2014
I love the first one Scott. I am ambivalent about the second one. On one hand, I find the electric wires tad distracting, on the other hand, the neat way they run across the photo is growing on me. Sury I know what you mean - at any other time I would have walked into the field and changed the angl...

Re: Landscape 2014
Chesterton Mill, UK After weeks of terrible weather and cancelled photo shoots with friends, finally had a successful nights shooting up near Leamington Spa. Of course, half a dozen other photographers had the same idea that very night too :-) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7339/11916806833_62ac88140...

Re: Nex-6 ramblings
I did a direct test of the 6 and a firmware upgraded 5n (but no PDAF on sensor), using a range of lenses lenses cycling through a range of indoor targets at different distances and found no difference in AF speed between the two cameras on static subjects in low to average light - thats not to say t...

Re: Sony Support/Service - My opinion
It's a small consolation given the service you received from Sony I know but I can honestly say that those couple of shots from that night are the only time this issue has affected any of my Sony Cameras including numerous night shots with bright lights in them. My nex 6 is at the welsh service cent...

Re: Sony Support/Service - My opinion
Hi I've not been on the forum much recently but stumbled across this thread - I've experienced the same or similar issue with a NEX 5n last year but only once. I asked a few people at the time but no one really gave a good answer as to why it happened and in probably 10K shots since (spread across t...

Re: Sony Interview at Cameradiner
For those wondering how Paul is making money off Camera Diner, apparently he isn't! In a rather strange but honest segment on the show at the end of March, he spoke live on air about the fact that he had failed to bring in enough advertising revenue to cover costs (including staff) and he was going ...

Re: A good staring Prime?
You have the 35 f1.8 which is a great value prime... As others have stated, the plastic 85mm f2.8 is also a fab lens but somewhat close to the Tamron... The Sony 50mm f1.8 is good, as is the 30mm f2.8 macro (but a bit limited as a macro lens - you need very good light if you need to get a couple of ...

Finding the right angle on a small waterfall....
I was on a club outing last week to Dover and decided to visit a local park to take some photos of the lake / a small artificial waterfall, thinking none of my club mates would think of going there. Of course, I turned up and found 3 of them standing on the bank taking shots. Not wanting to replicat...

Re: Testing out the NEX 5n
Thanks guys for all the positive comments. To Mike - The A77 and NEX5n are very different beasts - I love the handling on the a77 (including the portrait grip) and the detail on the a77 can be stunning at low ISOs .. but its very unforgiving in terms of user error in terms of handshake, slightly off...
