Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

One of the developers shows his work on an updated user interface to be in version 2.7 (current is 2.6.2):

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I found this wonderful discussion about darktable that includes developers:

https://discuss.pixls.us/t/darktable-speed-in-general-and-when-using-two-monitors/12002/7

It is about speed, usability, etc. See the posts by aadm and aurelienpierre, in particular.

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I am still using Lightroom Classic CC, but I watch what is going on with darktable with interest. Someone has posted some noise reduction info here:

Re: Should I get rid of my APS-C gear?

If you sell your A77 and A57 will it be about enough to get a second A99? Or maybe an A7II (or A7III) with adaptor?

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I read a tip somewhere about the small, fiddly sliders. My recollection is that you can just place the mouse cursor over one and then use the scroll wheel to make adjustments and that is much easier. I hope my recollection is correct. I still have 2.4 on my computer, but I haven't played with it in ...

Re: Signed up awhile ago, but didn't introduce myself

They also had a Yashica ML 55mm f2.8 macro (manual focus) with original front/rear caps and a Kenko 52mm skylight filter for $5. I looked it over and it looked to be in really good shape so I bought it. I also bought an old (probably mid-1990s based on the styling) A-mount Tamron AF 70-300mm f4-5.6...

Re: My ignorance (perhaps) - A99M2

With the FF sensor in the A99M2 I doubt if you will notice any problems at all. So what if the camera takes 3 or 5 photos varying from ISO 100 to 400, for example. I am sure ISO 400 is excellent.

Re: My ignorance (perhaps) - A99M2

That sounds like a reasonable way when using Auto ISO. No chance of DOF changing if the aperture is changed and less chance of problems with subject movement or shake if a lower shutter speed is used. If you prefer to use the same ISO then as you discovered turn off Auto ISO.

Re: Let's post some panoramas

. I won't be able to go into specifics and favourites, Henry, but these are brilliant albums and photos. :) Thank you for taking a look, Yildiz. The Setonaikai (Seto Inland Sea) is a great place that I have spent a lot of time around for the last 20 years. It is the sea between Honshu and Shikoku a...

Re: Let's post some panoramas

Recently we spent a couple of weeks in Hiroshima (been there quite a few times since 1985) and in the middle of that time we went to Kure for a couple of days. I have stopped there for just a few minutes several times while riding a ferry for 3 hours going to Hiroshima, but I have never stopped to s...
