Re: DxO: Sony A900 vs Olympus E-M10II

The Olympus E-M5, E-M10, E-M10II, E-P5, etc. that are 16mp have the same Sony sensor. Just very minor tweaks of the sensor and processing along the way, but I imagine DxO would show them pretty much identical. The PEN-F has the newer Sony 20mp sensor. Panasonic, mostly, uses their own Panasonic sen...

Re: DxO: Sony A900 vs Olympus E-M10II

It took Mike Johnston somewhat longer than it did for me to figure this out. :)

Micro 4/3 has caught up to Sony A900 FF

Re: Adobe Bridge CC DAM is free to everyone

I read something today that I didn't realize. Adobe Camera Raw is included with Bridge and it can be used directly from Bridge without Photoshop. Anyone done this? Sounds interesting. Lightroom is basically a DAM + ACR integrated together for a pretty nice workflow. I have been using Lightroom for m...

Re: Visiting the past in Virginia (Olympus/Panasonic m4/3 gear)

I happened to see this new post by Ctein on another forum about the super low noise using the 80mp high-res mode: https://www.mu-43.com/threads/so-what-am-i-supposed-to-with-80m-pixels.89569/page-6 He used to write interesting articles at The Online Photographer website and, I gather, is a master pr...

Re: Beercan 70-210mm versus Canon 70-200mm f4 L IS

I still have my old beercan, still looks almost new, that I bought in 1997 so maybe I'll hold on to it. :) I have to wonder though if mine is as good as yours? I recall that you have mentioned several times about how you have owned various lenses, sold ones that were not as good, kept the best ones...

Re: From my recent trip to Cambodia

I have heard that tourism has really taken off there in the last few years. I was in Cambodia in January 2008 and would like to go again. I don't recall any Mexican food in Siem Reap at that time though. :)

Re: Show us PORTRAITS

a7r2 + Jupiter-11A (an old Soviet-made lens, 135/4) Nice photos! We don't see much old Soviet or Eastern Bloc gear in Japan and the U.S., but with mirrorless bodies it can be fun to try all kinds of old lenses using an adaptor. I searched and found this short video so it was cool to see what it loo...

Excellent article about the variation in various copies of the same lens. Things You Didn’t Want to Know About Zoom Lenses https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2017/02/things-you-didnt-want-to-know-about-zoom-lenses/ I found the article because it was mentioned here: A 'Must Read' for the Weekend http:/...

Re: Adobe Bridge CC DAM is free to everyone

There are lots of choices when it comes to DAM software. Some are free such as Bridge and some are not free. If anyone uses Bridge as a DAM then please let us know your thoughts. It is my understanding that it creates thumbnails and you can assign star ratings, keywords, etc.. Then you can search/fi...

Adobe Bridge CC DAM is free to everyone

Previously the Adobe Bridge DAM (digital asset manager) was bundled with Photoshop, but today I learned on a forum that some time back Adobe unbundled it and also made it free for everyone. It also gets regular updates to recognize new raw files, bug fixes, etc. http://www.adobe.com/products/bridge....

Re: Show us PORTRAITS

Pako, that is very nice. I like the processing also. I recall that my best buddy bought a Nikon N8008 (F-801) in the late 1980s. It was his first AF SLR. He still has it and has never gone to digital. Well, other than the occasional smartphone photo. O-shogatsu, Yasukuni-jinja, Tokyo, 2003 htt...
