Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I will download the update when I get back to Japan. I am traveling for the last 5 weeks in Europe and Morocco and still have 2 weeks until back home. I am hoping I notice a bit of a performance boost in the new version.

Re: Memory Card Suggestion for 24+ MP... (off-topic, I Know) :)

So, what are you cooking? :) The big question is though: Would this photo have been better with a different SD card model or brand? I had to ask for all the gearheads who are dying to know. Probably somewhere there is a long thread full of people arguing about which cards produce the best phot...

Re: Snow

Neat shots. And I'm with Yildiz... glad that you made it to your destination safely. Thanks! They deiced our plane a little before boarding, but then after we boarded there was a bit of a delay so they deiced it again. They spray some sort of rather viscous, clear liquid and it gets on the plane wi...

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

1. The base file is not touched. The edits are just a list of commands that are stored and in real-time displayed. You can add to them, change them, undo them, etc. at will forever and none of it affects the base file. I was about to tell you that using "sidecar" xml instead of storing al...

I think those donuts are rather cool! I recall back in the 1970s the photo magazines often had photos and articles about how to get them using a mirror lens. :)

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I see that the new Darktable 2.4.0 has just been released. https://www.darktable.org/2017/12/darktable-240-released/ There is a pretty good thread about this new release that is still active. Some users have some good info: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/60549828

Re: Snow

The dog in the snow is great! At the Sapporo airport in February during a snow storm. They were deicing planes, including the one we were to fly on, as I watched. http://www.bakubo.com/Galleries%202/Japan/Sapporo%20Winter%202017/slides/IMG_2638.jpg http://www.bakubo.com/Galleries%202/Japan/Sapporo%2...

I especially like that first one! Very nice! I recall that back in 2008 and 2009 in Hawaii I sometimes took super shallow DOF macro photos of flowers with my A700 + Sigma 90mm f2.8 macro. Just for fun here are a couple. http://www.bakubo.com/Galleries%202/Hawaii/Hawaii%2020/slides/DSC02374.jpg http:...

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

Yes, Rawtherapee is crammed with controls. It would be nice if the main ones that are most often used were grouped together at the top. Or if there was a customization option to move controls around. You might check to see if it is possible to move them. I haven't checked. Also, it would be useful i...
