Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

Okay, what I am hearing is that the contention is that this is yet another example of fake news from the corrupt media?

Is The Digital Tele-Converter Feature Worthwhile?

Recently I stumbled upon this write up from 2 years ago: http://www.thewanderinglensman.com/2015/03/is-digital-tele-converter-feature-in.html When I travel I always shoot raw, but in the last couple of years I have started to shoot jpeg quite a lot again when I am not traveling and just doing my dai...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

Sony a9: more speed, less dynamic range https://www.dpreview.com/articles/7266455439/sony-a9-real-world-iso-invariance-and-dynamic-range It's immediately obvious the a9 is not ISO-invariant. This means the camera is adding a fair amount of read noise that results in noisy shadows, limiting dynamic ...

Re: A900 vs. A700 print quality comparison

Take a look at this article discussing 13x19 inch gallery exhibition quality prints from the tiny sensor 15mp Canon G10 digicam and medium format sensor 39mp Hasselblad H2 and Phase One P45+ digital back: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/kidding.shtml Here is part of the text: Over a two d...

Re: Why I sold my Plustek 7200i

Does the Vuescan multi-sample feature work with the V550? With my Minolta I pretty much always use it. Generally 2 samples for color negative film and 4 samples for color slide film. Slightly less noise. Here is what the user guide says about it: Input | Number of samples This option is available fo...

Re: still avoiding Adobe CC rental

I have had LR/PS CC for about 1.5 years. I also do not like the software rental model, but I don't have the problem of buying a new camera and not having the right version of LR/PS ACR to use with it anymore. Also, since I signed up there have been quite a few new features added to LR. Some of them ...

Re: India trip photos

Thank you. It was a good trip. I have now spent in total about 7 weeks in India (north in 2015, south in 2017). I am slowly working on the Sri Lanka trip photos now.

Re: Why I sold my Plustek 7200i

I still have my Minolta Dimage Scan Elite F-2900 35mm film scanner that I bought in 2000 for US$1000 (US$1416 in 2017 dollars): http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/DSE/DSEA.HTM I made a lot of use of it from 2000 until early 2014 to scan old slides and negatives I took from the early 1970s until 2...

Re: India trip photos

My recent trip to south India for about 3 weeks was great! I went to Kochi, Conoor, Ooty, Masinagudi, Mudumalai National Park, Mysore, Mamallapuram, Auroville, Pondicherry, Madurai, Thekkady, Periyar National Park, and Kerala Backwaters. I worked on a selection of my photos from the trip and they ar...

Re: Visiting the past in Virginia (Olympus/Panasonic m4/3 gear)

I have been shooting Olympus m4/3 cameras for exactly 5 years since May 2012. I spent a few minutes in Lightroom to check out a few statistics. I have been using the Olympus PEN-F, E-M10II, E-M10, and E-M5 and I have shot about 30k photos using them in the last 5 years. The ISO breakdown for the pho...

Re: My GF7 in IR

I recall that someone a few months ago was asking about the Panasonic GF7. Was that you? I have handled it at the stores in Japan and it seems like a good, small, yet capable m4/3 camera. The 12-32mm pancake lens seems to be well thought of too. Here is a review of the camera: http://www.imaging-res...

This is a cool story of a long lost camera and lens buried in wet snow and rained on for months and then found again. Re: Great pictures on my HX-90V

Speaking of tiny sensor camera photos, sometime back I made an album with a selection of only tiny sensor camera photos. The caption of each photo has the year and the name of the camera used. They start in 2000 -- January 2000 when I got my first digital, an Olympus D-340R 1.3mp. :) http://www.baku...

Re: Great pictures on my HX-90V

I just went through the first few pages (54 pages in all :!: so far) of the Tiny sensor revenge gallery thread! and I was reminded of lots of people who use to be on the forum, but have disappeared. :(
