Re: AfterShot Pro and Lightroom

Before CC came along there were these 2: I have so many photo edited using non-destructive editing in Lightroom that it makes it difficult to step away from it. Each day I import more and edit more. That was my problem, too. But after testing Capture One on older images, I found two things: 1) My e...

Re: AfterShot Pro and Lightroom

I had LR 4 and then LR 5 (to get support for a new camera) and then a couple of years ago I switched to LR/PS CC to get support for a new camera. I never use PS CC so I would prefer a much cheaper rental plan for LR only. Adobe will probably never do that though. Since I got LR 4 almost 5 years ago...

Re: AfterShot Pro and Lightroom

Now there's this coming this month, looks amazing! Re: AfterShot Pro and Lightroom

Although I have had LR/PS CC for 2 years I am not a big fan of the subscription model. I don't use the cloud. From time to time I think about switching, but I have tens of thousands of edited photos in LR using non-destructive editing. That is a big lock in. The same, of course, is true with any no...

Re: AfterShot Pro and Lightroom

Haven't been here in years since I moved off Sony into Fuji. I was still subscribed to this thread, though. LightRoom CC was looking like a big con job to me a few months ago. Worsening performance, no real new features, and it was all supposed to be much better because we were paying every month. I...

Re: LR5 v. LR4 - anyone tried the new version?

One thing I just cant get to grips with in PS is noise reduction. Mikeriach I gave up on noise reduction in PS a long time ago. I use the luminance slider in either Camera Raw or Lightroom to remove luminance noise and recover any loss of sharpness with the sharpness slider also in Camera Raw or Li...

Re: I want a pocket NEX

Maybe I've been brainwashed , but how much would you pay for a 24-70 F/1.8 - F/2.8 lens on your camera? And it's combined with a 20MP camera whose quality would rival a DSLR five years ago at all ISOs, and today would make reasonably sized prints at low ISOs that would be hard to distingush fr...

Re: LR5 v. LR4 - anyone tried the new version?

This update says they are working on some bugs (has a list) for the LR 5 update. Fortunately, it says they are working on the one in particular that I was concerned with: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/06/lightroom-5-hot-issues.html As mentioned here, a bug was introduced in Lightroom...

Re: LR5 v. LR4 - anyone tried the new version?

I saw this today. I am still using 4.4 and will continue waiting before getting 5.?. Warning! Lightroom 5 has a Potentially Catastrophic Bug http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/2013/08/lightroom-5-bug.html At the end of his blog he says: "In any case, I continue to...

Re: LR5 v. LR4 - anyone tried the new version?

The vertical tool gives variable results, since it's based on a complex algorithm. It will no doubt improve over time. However, you can manually adjust as you can in PS. There are for me two significant other processing enhancements: 1) The spot healing tool now lets you paint an area and does a pre...

Re: Mirrorless rumours

Wandering back to the "rumours" Quite an interesting one on SAR http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-sony-is-betting-high-on-the-new-a-mount-mirrorless-generation/ Lots of responses too, the text is: 1) I have been told that 2014 will be THE YEAR for A-mount. It means that Sony is aware tha...

Re: Mirrorless rumours

On the Fuji side I think the X20 is the closest yet to what I might be looking for to take on those don't want to bring a DSLR and lenses day trip out. The X100s is really a luxury type purchase for a later date (with a hefty price cut), but could be useful as a stealthy candid type camera at weddi...

Re: Lightroom 5 Beta available

I'm disappointed that there's no option to invert the adjustment brush mask. The Auto Mask option in the adjustment brush works well when there's a clear contrast border. For example, if you have a shot where you want to blur or otherwise adjust a background, it's far quicker and more accurate to br...
