Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

All things considered, you won't go far wrong with Canon, inferior sensor or not, although I would like to know how inferior as Canon has a huge fan base world wide and I see no one complaining on their chat forums and I don't hold much credence with reviews especially from DP. As one Nikon pro user...

Re: Great pictures on my HX-90V

Thanks for opening up the thread again I had forgotten all about it, there are some impressive small sensor pictures. Will try to post a pic when I have time.

I can only guess, but they may have had their Jpegs optimised for the point and shoot consumer market

Great pictures on my HX-90V

I always carry my Sony HX-90V compact on holidays, it goes in the pocket and has a great Zeiss zoom lens, but every time I down load on the PC the pictures look so much more pleasing than my A37/standard 18-55 kit lens, The colours are far nicer and overall its a better camera in some ways. Yes, I k...

Re: Sony A-99 11

Yes Val, agree, it seems that only the high end stuff ever gets discussed, especially recently launched cameras like the 2 you mention and at the expense of the entry level end (nothing new there to discuss). but you have to expect that these new and exciting bits of kit are going to be taken apart ...

I wonder if they have plans at the bottom of the range with the A-58 Entry level cameras

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

I heard rumours from a Nikon rep in my local store that Nikon might team up with Mitsubishi, who have made sensors and other components for Nikon, so there is some history there that could develop. Canon in a way are a 'Maverick' company with most things made in house. They are also quite a conserva...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

I went down the ILC route with a A6000 and used my old A mount lenses via an adaptor, it was crazy, poor balance, heavy, large and it removed the whole object of an ILC. Some sites even said with some big E mount lenses, the camera looked like a credit card glued to the end of a beer can. I sold the...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

About right in my view, not for me either, but there is no doubt Canikon will eventually respond, they have to, to survive. My A mount is just one A37, Sony 18-55, kit Sony 18-135, Minolta 24-85 and a Konica 17-35, but like you, they only see the light of day occasionally. My main carry any where ca...

Re: Sony A-99 11

Sony are not perfect, but they continue to give the photographer lots of features the others don't give and even when they cut corners to save money, its not usually a deal breaker. They say the Pentax K3 11 is a the best Pentax yet, with many earlier problems ironed out according to several review ...

Re: Sony passes Nikon

Your possibly right, but Canon will be the toughest hurdle both US and global to cross. Stores are good indicators of trends, Panasonic is a big seller because of its high reputation as a great movie camera. Makes you wonder where Pentax are on the global scale of things, would be interesting to see.

Re: Sony A-99 11

There is still a global fan base for Canikon, but they are seeing that market shrink quite substantially. I had a D80 and later a D90, both were excellent and gave me good service for several years, but I have to say not at a professional level, just happy snapping, I later traded the D90 for A D510...

Re: New Olympus E-M1 body for 4/3 and m4/3 lenses

bakaboo, I read with interest your reply to Barry, I have no data myself to post but I remember one review site saying about one of the top of the range Pentax K mount DSLR's, that they were being a bit optimistic with their ISO claims, that's all I remember. Its the real world pictures that interes...
