Re: Why does dPreview do 'Recommended' ratings?
I'd say whatever they call their ratings, highly recommended, more highly recommended, a bit recommended etc, what is missing is consistency. If they want to rate cameras, they have to establish a set of criteria (much more than what they show in the conclusion) and give points from 1-10, then the f...

welcome and hoş geldiniz from France!
You won't regret getting the A700, I just did. Anything else that Sony might release soon will be much more expensive. :

Re: Which Sony Alpha kit lens?
I went for the Sony 18-250 a few months ago. I needed a walkaround lens for those days when you just grab your camera and have no time to change lenses. Like it a lot.

Re: Your best A700 tip & trick?
Thanks to all for your ideas. Yesterday evening I did my first test. Wow!! What a difference. The shutter feels so fast  . I could sit here til the end of the week and press the shutter again and again just for the fun of it :D . Coming from the KM5D, the display is just unbelievable, as is t...

Your best A700 tip & trick?
Well, maybe I am just posting this to tell you I finally got an A700 , battery is charging..
Anyway, my background is the KM5D, any good tips for an upgrader? Any fundamental changes I am not yet aware of? Any traps and pitfalls to avoid?
Maybe I should just go out and shoot

A few from me...
Actually I don't know if I'd have selected these pics for posting, but these two get the most clicks on my (still tiny) flickr account. First one is in Cannes, KM5D with Minolta 28-135. Second one was at Munich Airport, KM5D with Sigma 10-20 The heli-shot was actually not easy, I was using just the ...

Re: Compresses RAW on the A700
I remember some pretty heated discussions on cRaw on dyxum, do a search there.
One guy reprogrammed what was required to decode it and compared to RAW.
IIRC, the outcome was that it is lossless with the exception of high contrast edges, where a minimal loss could occur.

Re: Bonjour from France
Enjoy the French holiday season, as they certainly do, and I guess everything is either closed now or about to close... Thanks David, its not too bad. Maybe Paris is closed because they're all down here!! :D It's currently 'Soldes'-time (sales), we were in Nice last weekend and both beaches and sho...

Bonjour from France
Hi there, I just joinded, some might remember me from that other 'review' site where I am registered since 6 years as Thomas Goseberg (which happens to be my name :D ). I also contributed (just once) to David's magazine by providing some pics & impressions from the first Sony World Photo Awards ...
