Re: Touch of Africa

ps.In that case we would have to collect money between us and buy the A900 and the new Carl-Zeiss lens series for Robbie to return the favor and also to get more beautiful Africa photos Now this is an astounding idea. Please don't let me stop you. Haha, yes, I think you got the answer. But the main...

Re: Touch of Africa

Don't think that people realise the pure enormity of these trees. Puts it in perspective when a person stands next to one. There are even trees that people have used to live inside, just demonstrating the size and the hollowness inside. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Touch of Africa

Africa is always interesting! :D I'm glad you're sharing this beautiful, wild, vast piece of land with us. None of the natural environment or habitat can be found anywhere else with such generous abundance... Hope to see more, Yildiz It's a pleasure to share this with you. It is not all wild over h...

Re: Touch of Africa

The baobab tree is spoiled by those wires, unfortunately. Picture was taken from the side of the road, unfortunately fences and telephone wires are a reality. But to make amends, here is one taken from within the Bushveld. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn99/RobbieA_0001/africanbush.jpg Winston...

Touch of Africa

Thought I would let you see a bit of the South African countryside as we see it everyday. The Drakensberg Mountains - middle of SA http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn99/RobbieA_0001/drakensberg.jpg From a different perspective http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn99/RobbieA_0001/easterntvl.jpg A c...

Re: Bird in Flight

Gee Dr Harout, I believe I would travel a few thousand miles to get a good shot of a bee eater... Once when I was at the Adriatic coast in Croatia I saw a kingfisher and I mistook it for a bee eater... I would have to travel about 20 miles to my nearest location to be able to maybe catch some bee-e...

Re: Bird in Flight

Dr H, superb control of your whites on the seagull. Lovely and sharp, just a pity you managed to clip the wings. Also nice capture of the bee eater. Here is one of my BIF's, some yellow billed ducks.

Re: Malachite Kinfisher

Hi and thanks for sharing! :) I love small birds, and when they are coloured with the 'rainbow' like this kingfisher, I love them all the more so. Hardly anything to see in Istanbul. And I am amazed how neatly sharp this photo is with each feather showing distictively. You must be good with this le...

Re: Mirror lens

Coming back to the pic of the moon. Just looking at the pics posted and my pic of the moon, yours seem upside down! my imagination? I am in the southern hemisphere and you in the northern. Does this have anything to do with it? http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn99/RobbieA_0001/moon.jpg

Re: Malachite Kinfisher

Thanks for your positive comments guys. These are pretty scarce in most places in South Africa and are in fact quite small birds, only about 2 inches high. We have some very colourful birds over here, this one being my absolute favourite. :D

Re: A900 - Awesome

Did you play with the camera at a SonyStyle shop, a photo store or a trade show? I want to go to the SonyStyle store here in NYC and play with that beauty too, but "my contact" told me that they don't have it yet :-/ It was at a specialist photo store, with the South African Sony DSLR pro...

Re: A900 - Awesome

Thank you Dr Harout. Been lurking around here forever, but felt that my news was good to post. I really love my A700, will not swap it easily for anything else, but the A900 is certainly a beast to be reckoned with. Sony is really taking the other players on head to head, and as I understood it last...

A900 - Awesome

Had the A900 in my hands tonight. What an awesome piece of technology. Very simular to my A700 except for the LCD screen on the top RHS and no pop up flash. Image quality fantastic. Was using the 70-200 and 300mm G lenses. Images pin sharp and so so smooth.. Going to be pricey in our market in South...
