Re: A900 vs... Hasselblad H3 and Mamyia AFDIII

A J Gressette wrote picked up a G10 about 10 days ago and it does really well for a point and shoot at ISO 80. ISO 200 and above it looks like a photo copied from a 1970 color Television Set. Noise is bad. No, it is worst than bad. Its history and I will get the Ricoh 200. I suggest you take a look ...

Re: A700 Clearance ?

David Kilpatrick addressed this question some time ago. I cannot find the entry but from talking to some people (including I think a Sony representative) the conclusion was that the A700 is still in production and there is not a replacement immediately over the horizon. I also believe that Sony need...

Re: Contemplations....

I basically agree with Hobbitofny's contemplations above. I happen to own the A700 & A350 as well. I tend to pick the A350 with the CZ 16-80 if I do not need fast shooting or high ISO. I want the features of the A700 but still pick the 14 Mp A350 most of the time because of the sensor and LV. I ...

Kevin Barret wrote: You're talking about LV off the main sensor, which won't have the same functionality as an a350's LV system, but be more like the competition's LV. in response to my wish-list. This is a shameless wish-list so I actually wanted to retain the A700 OVF capability but for Sony to in...

Re: Shameless Wish-List Fun

I think Kevin Barrett has opened an interesting discussion and a lot of good suggestions have been made. Clearly Sony could not incorporate all these without us all having to break the bank to afford a new "Super A700". Please let me add my little bit as well. I really think that Sony shou...

Re: A700 & A350 with Minolta Auto 360PX Flash?

Correction to my message above. I have now tested the Cable OC and it will not fit the Alpha DSLR. It is designed for the old X700 flash connection only. Sorry about my haste.

Re: A700 & A350 with Minolta Auto 360PX Flash?

Thanks for the quick response David. Whatever transpires I will certainly post some pictures on the Gallery first of A350 and then of A700 efforts. I have dug out a box entitled Minolta Cable OC - never even opened. It has a spiral cable and an adaptor that would fit a flash shoe at the one end and ...

A700 & A350 with Minolta Auto 360PX Flash?

I still have a working Minolta Auto 360PX flash I used on my X700s. Can this flash unit be used on my A700 and/or A350? If so what adaptor will I need and what functions would be working? There is a "Flash Hot Shoe Adapter for Minolta Dynax Sony Alpha" being advertised on ebay for small ch...

Re: 64GB and 100GB CF Cards Announced!

What about a Phase One 65+ back with a Sensor resolution of 60.5 Megapixel with 8984 x 6732 active pixels achieving 180 MB, 8 bit RGB files? A 2 or 4 Gb card won't take you far as the output is 16 bits/channel in RAW. As far as I can make up the RAW file size is 60 Mb. Suddenly you have shot a coupl...

Re: a300, a350, a700 or a900?

I am not an expert and you will get better advice than I can provide but frankly I believe from having read widely that there is no point in upgrading the A100 to a later model without getting a better standard Zoom lens. The 18-70 has received mixed review and is held to be soft at the corners. hav...

Re: A900 vs. D700 @ DPReview

It looks to me that the tone between Sonolta and David K has mellowed slightly and they have moved slightly closer to admitting that on the one hand the Jpeg high ISO performance of the D3/700 is better than the A900 but not by an extraordinarily wide margin. Personally I do not believe that the A90...

Re: A900 vs. D700 @ DPReview

I think I have read all the entries in thread but I am kind of lost on the Jpeg argument that the A900 is not doing too well here. The DPReview stated under the Jpeg comparison (presumably low ISO) with A900 that However, the amount of detail that is rendered by the Sony's new 24MP sensor is quite s...

Re: A700 (v.4) and Alamy

I have over 2200 images on Alamy from 2003 and onwards. Only rejections have been for occasional dust and forgetting to eliminate edges from scans. I started with X700 and mostly Sigma 28-70 F2.8 through DSC-R1 and now A700 & A350. I also use Panasonic LX2 and latterly LX3 because of 24 mm lens....
