Re: DC by Night

Thank you both for the advice. It sucks that Lightroom has forced this choice.
The upside is that I get better from the beginning.
Time to get to work.

Re: DC by Night

Tripod. It was windy so what you are seeing is motion blur, not camera shake. The difficulty is that the monuments are lit so brightly that over exposure is a problem (Lincoln Memorial center left background in image 1). In addition, I no longer have access to Lightroom and my version of Capture One...

DC by Night

Inspired by Sury's travel images and Sig's recent low light work, I decided to kill some time in DC while the wife attended a show. I used the RX1. Re familiarizing myself with the controls of this little beast was quite the challenge. Especially in the dark. https://a4.pbase.com/g12/64/511964/2/170...

Re: Dancers in the Dark - St. Louis Ballet (A7III high ISO)

Thank you Sig for the detailed answer. I seem to recall that one adapter is better for SSM lenses and so no good for non-SSM lenses like the ZA 85 or the ZA 135. Last question, do you see a difference in auto focus performance between the 70-200 versus the 85?
Thanks again.

Well done.
Any thoughts on using the adapter? Does the combination with heavier lenses affect balance?

Back left, wood texture. Find that and I think you have it. Tough environment.
I wish I could have been there with you.
Maybe one day.
You are the man.
Please forgive my suggestions.

Re: New Orleans, LA, USA

Hey Sury, good effort. I keep scrolling back to the first image for comparison (which I believe has the best exposure of them all). Maybe just take a little off the top end and you have it. Of course, this is only my opinion.

Re: New Orleans, LA, USA

Thanks for taking a shot. I guess I should have connected those dots about who was using the kitchen. That said, I think you have gone too dark. Some of the iron pots are almost invisible. My request was based on what I thought was a good tonal range that would lend itself to B&W. It seems you t...

Did you consider strapping some raw chicken thighs to your legs and wading in?

Excellent shot.

Wonderful stuff.
Nice to see the ZA 85 getting some work. Still a magnificent lens.

No Sympathy

for us. We lost our dog today. As hard as it is, we have our memories. This was my best shot. A random day, just holding the camera in my kitchen, and the background floor matching the color of her coat. She walked up and gave me her usual quizzical look and then I pressed the button. Indy- 15 years...
