Re: Rumours ramping up.

on another UK forum there is a chap who certainly seems to be in Sony's good books & he says that there will be an A800 (no spec. details divulged by him though) this year.
he also says that according to Paul Genge Sony are working on an A900 firmware update.

aren't your professionals more likely to be using pro quality Ls though & therefore ring motors.
Micromotors seem more prone to fail?

I believe that Pentax have had failures with 2 SDM lenses in particular prone to it.

Re: Small sample size survey on a ferry

recently was out photographing red kites & of the 4 DSLR users in the hide 3 were Alpha users (2 A700s & 1 A900, all were previously Minolta users) & 1 Nikon. Not a Canon to be seen!

tbh I don't believe that they are a problem - I believe that it was a product requested & probably funded by government agencies etc.

Kurt Munger has his review up

Synopsis "The Sony 70-400mm F/4-5.6 is an all-around winner and worthy of the fairly hefty price tag. If you have the cash, get this lens! "

Re: SAL-70400G---First impressions

I've been waiting for this lens for a very long time as it is ideally suited to aviation photography as Heidfirst will no doubt testify. absolutely, as far as I'm concerned it's pretty much perfect for my needs. Only (minor) gripes other than those already mentioned would be I would have preferred ...

Re: SAL-70400G---First impressions

Re: SAL-70400G---First impressions

I've had mine since February (1 of the first in the UK) for use on A700/7D & agree that it's best in class - I have plenty of friends with the Canon 100-400 IS L & the G is better, no doubt imo. I've also used the Nikon 80-400mmm & again imo the G is better overall. The silver finish doe...

Re: Sigma 100-300mm f/4 (D) EX DG IF lens

The performance of this lens is WAY better than even the 70-200mm f2.8 and it is probably one of the best lenses made (absolute - one of the best lenses, from any make). I have the older non-DG version of this lens & despite it's stellar reputation I've never been that impressed by it - possibl...
