Re: Nikon D90 video and my best guitar

David, I am sorry to hear about the problems. Things are pretty discouraging right now. I imagine just about all of us have been hit in some way or other and if the politicians are right there is likely to be more to come. By the way, I forwarded the link of you playing your guitar to my brother-in-...

Re: Care to join?

I've been very careful about where I buy food ever since, and I always try to go to restaurants where you can see the kitchen and see the raw materials. When traveling in less developed countries that is particularly true. For example, in Southeast Asia there are always lot of people preparing and ...

Re: FS: Sony A700 (SOLD) still some lenses and flashes - UK

The whole subject of lightweight travelling with a camera is close to my heart at the moment. We are flying next week and the hand luggage limit on the airline we're on is now only 5kg, with the A700 + 16-80CZ + 70-300G, there is still some spare capacity, however I really want to take the A900, wh...

Re: FS: Sony A700 (+ some lenses and flashes) - UK

May I ask what the issue is with travelling with the A900? I do a lot of travel and these days I'm using the A700. For me the thing about the A900 that would give me pause all has to do with weight and size: 1. A900 body is a little heavier. 2. Lenses to get the same range are bigger and heavier. 3...

This seems a bit strange to me. Why shoot at ISO 6400 with +2 EV instead of just shooting at ISO 1600?

Re: Phil Askey Clamping Down On Brand Bashing in DPReview Forums

There was a great post once (on the Pro DSLR Forum) about the guy who bought a new drill, who went out and bored some holes in things, results were only so so, he was just getting used to the new drill and only had a small collection of drill bits, and then he ran across the professional driller wi...

Re: 7 or 9, which would you pick ?

When KM closed down, Sony had refused to buy the spares. The entire inventory was chucked into skips outside the industrial unit. A 'mole' within Sony tipped off Camera Repair Workshop, a Milton Keynes based independent repairer who did all the overflow work for KM (ex-Minolta staff). They raided t...

Re: Does A700 with v4 use less power?

The strange thing about this power issue is that after the initial weirdness it seems to be more or less back to normal. Here is a summary. The first 4 days the A700 still showed 100% and then finally went to 99%. Then the next time I turned the camera on it showed 88%. Since then it has been going ...

Re: Does A700 with v4 use less power?

I was out for 3 hours in a park. I was trying to see if I could figure out Henry's eyestart problem but I can't say I noticed the camera using less power. but I didn't shoot very much while there. and I must say I didn't find Henry's problem either. I'm sorry to be so late in replying. I just notic...

Re: Sigma HSM lenses now!

Thanks for the update from Photokina. I was in Köln for a few days in 2005. I remember they had pretty good beer there. :D

Any word on when all those promised Sony mount lenses will be available? Did they say if the OS lenses with no OS will still be the same price in Sony mount?

Re: Does A700 with v4 use less power?

I didn't notice that, since I review so much on the camera LCD, which drains power like h.e.l.l. But on the other hand I noticed that the file size changed: I always hat 623 Jpeg + Raws on a 16GB card, now it is 642... Not that it makes a huge difference. But welcome anyway. Did you have the ISO se...

Does A700 with v4 use less power?

I updated my A700 on the morning of 9/16 with a freshly charged battery. I have been using the camera a bit each day since then and in the late afternoon on 9/20 I noticed something strange. I haven't taken a lot of shots (only 31), but I have had the camera on quite a few times, shot a few, reviewe...

I did look at some of the videos. They don't show the answers to any of my questions. Please don't respond to me. I have no interest in having any more communication with you.

Re: Come to Papa - Canon 5D Mark II

you can not use the viewfinder for video and please do look at the sample video before you deem it unusable. Might as well rip the LCD off your a700, eh? Unusable in daylight just like the d90's...what a pitty. Joke. Why do you always have to act like such a jerk? I had a simple question and...

I don't know, that was my question. Although you didn't answer it, I guess, the answer is that you can use the vf while in video mode. Is that right? Does that mean the mirror is constantly flipping up and down during video mode?
