Re: Future of A mount

Yes the Pentax bodies some took AA's, with decent quality cells battery life was fine. As it was on the Nikon DSLR's with 6 in the grip Not sure how well it would hold up to full time live view MILC cameras. Still it can be useful to have. My 2002 Minolta D7i that had an EVF used 4 AA batteries. Th...

Re: Future of A mount

Maybe Sony could make a deal with JIP to sell their A-mount business. That is what Olympus did. JIP created OM Digital Solutions to continue the line of gear. We shall see what comes of it.

Re: Gatling disc camera

With that whirling propeller-like disc inside it might sound like a B-17 in flight. Now how cool is that?

Re: Gatling disc camera

With that amazing spinning disc inside there could even be an option to put cards in there to make the sound even more awesome! SD cards?

Gatling disc camera

When will we finally see the fulfillment of the digital promise? A Gatling disc camera with lots of sensors that spins behind the lens. Talk about frames per second! Imagine the cool whooshing sound as that disc with all those sensors is rotating like a propeller inside the camera. It could act as a...

Re: Future of A mount

This is what I always consider before buying some new camera gear, particularly something as expensive as switching systems: What is the problem with my current gear that is holding me back that I hope to fix by spending all that money? And how important is that problem? If your current gear is stil...

Re: Minolta podcast...

If you add a motor drive to the OM cameras then they are much bigger and much heavier! Think about all those AA batteries too! If that is what you have such fond OM memories of then the E-M1X will give you a thrill up your leg! OM-drive-3.jpg om-2_bulk_drive.jpg OM-drives.jpg

Re: Minolta podcast...

So far my Micro 4/3 system ticks most boxes for me plus it has a growing used market. My GX7 was used as was the 14-42 and 14-140. Its a pity Olympus didn't stay with the OM bodies, plenty small enough and APS-C for digital but mirrorless was but a dream in those days. I had an OM-2 N superb camera...

Re: Canon G16 review has most interest

The Canon G was pretty popular, not sure if it is these days bar used gear. I did recommend it to a few people back in the day those looking for a decent non SLR camera. I suppose the premium compact segment, that ship has mostly sailed with the rise of the phones. From time to time I take my G16 o...

Re: Does low light matter to you?

A few weeks ago I bought the Topaz bundle of 3 programs: Denoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI for $127 while they were on sale. They are pretty impressive. I tried Denoise AI 3.0.3 on the 2 very noisy photos and while a bit better than what Lightroom noise reduction could do I couldn't get resul...

With the size of that big commercial building he owned for decades and used as a home he had plenty of room to hoard. :)

Re: Future of A mount

Buying new in 2021 is just plain dumb IMO regardless of what you are using In January 2020 I bought a used Panasonic GX7II (GX85/GX80) at a shop in Tokyo. Very nice camera. I wrote a user review and have continued to update the thread as I find new things: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/63703...
